The fic 'A Fistful of Apples contains real-world issues, as I have mentioned. If you are of 'an age' to read the Clop-fics on this website, then you are old enough to remember the Financial Crisis of 2008, the September 11 Attack On The Twin Towers, the Invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan, and so on.
Nowadays, there are many people running in circles, wringing their hands, blubbering, sniffling, and pushing all kinds of strange views as to why they think we ended up in these utter disasters - 'we' being the American Taxpayers.
Economist Paul Krugman insists that the system of Capitalism is the direct cause of all the misery and suffering we are currently steeped in - not 'Welfare Queens', not 'Takers', not 'Useless Mouths.' Krugman suggests that the REAL 'Useless Mouths' and 'Welfare Queens' are actually the Masterminds behind the American Banking Cartel, the types that were so gracefully bailed out by our much-misunderstood President.

Of course, Krugman is only feeding us a more modern-day version of Karl Marx's original idea - Capitalism is a system that is not only doomed to failure, but also spells doom for the Human Race, if left unchecked. Many people cried and wailed bitterly when he wrote the book 'Das Kapital'.
The War on Terrorism and indeed most wars are a by-product of Capitalism. If Capitalism is a gigantic, globe-spanning Machine, then War is the bloody oil that lubricates this monstrosity. The population of a country is fed propaganda by their controllers regarding most wars, usually along the lines of some nonsense suggesting that All Will Be Lost if We Don't Fight the Enemy. Images of Good Vs. Evil, Triumph over a faceless, unfriendly, inhuman enemy, a common mythology in most conflicts between countries, are used to inspire the population to hate and kill.
My fic, 'A Fistful Of Apples', contains scenes of war not because I want to display Yet Another Equestrian War, but to depict one of the scourges that follows in the wake of Capitalism..
George Orwell, in spite of his latent dislike for Socialism, makes an excellent point in his book '1984', regarding the nature of War with most states. Through the mouthpiece of Emmanuel Goldstein, he posits that War is a necessity to those in control of a country - it keeps the populace stupid and vicious, it locks up production and finance to ensure that the common people are always hungry, thirsty, and poor, and it cuts down the total number of people to more manageable numbers.
Why are you spouting this political crap on a fanfiction website about multi coloured ponies?
