Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3... nope.

If I see one more episode of any damn thing where a student's refusal to even try is framed as the fault of the teacher- ugh.

I could have LOVED that episode, and all it would have taken was a bit of effort from Rainbow. An admittance that she was trying and it was hard and it wasn't working. It threads through the episode- even with what Fluttershy says when she breaks them apart.

    Raindrops' Hiatus; Friendship is Mandatory.

    Holla!

Two things: first, I'm putting Raindrops' Wrap Up on indefinite hiatus. I have plan to finish it, but I think it's fair to say that at this point either that'll never happen or one day you'll log on and it'll just be DONE, with about 35 new chapters in your feed.

Secondly, as a kind of apology, I've got this for you:

My Little Pony: Friendship is Mandatory.

    Tiny Human Baby

    Holla!

I have a son! The tiny human baby is called Teddy and was born on the 17th- in the run-up and the last few weeks I've sort of dropped off here. But now I'm back- got my lunch hours to myself at work again, so Raindrops' Wrap Up should be updating a lot more often now. Hurrah!

    Good News!

    I'm gonna be a dad!*

I could not be more excited or delighted. But there's so much work to do, and as a result you'll have noticed that I'm posting less often. I can't really be sorry about that- I think I've got my priorities straight- but you do certainly all deserve an explanation, so this is it!

Tiny human baby on the way!* Wahoooo!

Raindrops' Wrap Up: the CYOA conundrum

Here's an interesting bit of maths for you; CYOA stories present an exponential writing challenge.

    Here's the skinny:

Everyone reads chapter 1. That's 500 words written, of which everyone reading the story will read 500 words per readr. Lovely.

Three Magics Completed! SMARTYVERSE AWAAAAY · 3:17pm May 30th, 2012

It's finally done!

Thank you, if you have been bearing with me, for bearing with me on this one. That last chapter was Celestia-bucking hard to get done, I think I threw away two or three drafts before I was happy with the story. On top of that I got into this big loop where I started wondering whether it was worth finishing, and I got worried about frequenting the site because I started to think people would berate me for not just getting it done, and... BALGHURGHBAH. I'm glad it's done. I hope you like it.

That said, this is probably the last story I'll write in the "Fixing Up Miss Smartypants" universe, or the Smartyverse for short. So feel completely free to ask questions about what I intended to include but didn't or what I think would happen in the future and so on. If you fancy writing side fic about ponies I didn't cover that are set in the same verse? Have at it! I would feel quietly chuffed.

I've really enjoyed writing for you all. So what now?

Yes! YES!!

Time for an unplanned work break.

Nicely done AP, you might want to give it a quick editing sweep though, you had some that should have been in brackets instead.

143284 Yeah, I caught those now I think. There's always something!

Now you too will fall under my spell and write a Twilestia story :twilightsheepish: (maybe not)

At any rate, looking forward to reading more from you.

143328 Twilestia is always an interesting pairing to me just because of the race difference. I can't imagine many happy endings when mortals love immortals, but most of the themes have kinda been done to death- I'd have to come up with a new take on it.

143331

Done to the death? yet Twilestia is still one of the least prolific shipping pairs (counting OC ponies as one pony)
If you need ideas.... Usually it's Twilight with the crush... but what if it were the other way around?

143333 Oh, no, I don't mean in Equestria- I mean in fiction! Falling in love with an immortal, or an immortal falling in love with you, is something we seem fascinated by as a culture. Think Aragorn/Arwen! I'd need to have a think and see if I could work out something that felt like a real reason for writing it.

143338
Ah I see... I haven't really been into fanfiction up till MLP though... so I for one won't have seen all the numerous iterations :twilightoops:

Still, I would like to see what you can do with it, and I'm more than willing to help you brainstorm :twilightsheepish:

Well since you are not continuing, any ideas for what future foals that could have been if you decided to continue?

I would like some closure please. What became of Twilight and Macintosh along with the other pairings? Of Spike finally growing out his wings? You answered a few questions only to raise more. It was like the ending of ME3. Good, but still to many questions unanswered.

143815 Future foals! Hah, I never actually worked out a next generation. If I'd done a third it was likely to be another 5 years later and focus on Dinky.

So would our various couples go for foals? Applejack and Fluttershy would, I think, end up adopting from various other branches of the apple family with too many children. Pinkie and Luna prefer to be aunties- Pinkie loves foals! Loves them! But they're so much work and it's every. single. day. She will jump at foalsitting whenever she gets the chance, though. Twilight and Big Mac would likely end up having a foal or two, but late in life- I think Twilight would like the name Bright Future, which is coincidentally the name of a type of apple.

I honestly don't know if Rainbow and Rarity would go for kids. No clue. Spike and Scoots can't have kids, but I think Spike would become a father far in the future.

144923 Not ME3! NOOOOOOooooooooooooo

Well, part of what I wanted for the ending was to leave everypony in a very hopeful place, rather than the sad sort of lockdown they had near the beginning. Hope means there have to be possibilities, so I had to leave some things open. So where do I think the ponies are going after this?

Well, I think Twi and Mac will stay together this time. That would certainly be my plan if I wrote another fic- I've put them through the wringer more than enough already! For foals, see my answers above. Spike's wings would grow in, I reckon, over the next week or so- I decided dragon physiology ages according to emotional state, and wings are grown from feeling a need for or a new understanding of freedom. The first time Spike's wings nearly came through, he was ready to run. He felt like nopony needed him. Now, his wings are growing in because he feels like he could go anywhere- like he's finally got stable ground underneath him and he can choose to do any number of things. Certainly his learning to fly would tighten his relationship with Scootaloo!

The diamonds are storage/release of earth pony energy, and have so many uses! A big part of it is healing magic- an earth-charged diamond can flood a pony's body with good, healthy energy, helping them recover. Pegasi and Unicorns would have to be careful with them though, because it's dangerous to store their magic in something. I did amuse myself thinking about Applejack's reaction to literally the largest apple tree in equestria suddenly popping up in her fields!

Hope that helps you. Any more questions, let me know!
