Regarding the diary · 7:33am May 28th, 2014
Linking to Mage's Jump for now as it has more readers, and since most of the readers of the diary also read the main story. And I can only link one story at a time
For some of you, either being newer readers or just not really paying attention/caring about side stories, there is a minor side story to The Mage's Jump called "Twilight's Diary" that can be found here. As you may notice, the story has few chapters and has not been updated since January (when I posted the rewritten version of ch4's entry). The reason for this is it's basically tied to only being updated when a chapter has something for Twilight to really write about.
Sadly, this has been a bit of a problem for me.
I actually have written a new entry for ch16, but due to overall "meh" responses from editors, I've decided to hold off for now and instead post a single entry for both Hearth's Warming chapter (16 and 17)...but I'm not sure where to go from there.
Originally, the diary was meant to help me get used to writing Twi, eventually allowing me to get into her mindset and hopefully make it easier to write her in then main story. This pretty much has worked, as when I do write her I don't have that much trouble. But because of the lack of major updates, I've pretty much lost most of the interest in writing it for now.
Some may recall the first chapters being no more than simple recaps of the corresponding chapter, which is why they have been rewritten or deleted. Recently though I had an idea: what if it wasn't just entries from Twilight?
Basically, I've noticed that since the main story is primarily from Trace's POV, there isn't that much focus on the minds of Twi, Fei, or even Spike (all of whom should be playing major roles in the story), I've counteracted this a bit by giving Twi and Fei some bits from their POV,m bt this is still a bit rare and leaves Spike out. So, after the next update, I am considering essentially remaking the diary, offering entries from Twi, Fei, and, if I can get into the mindset, Spike. Along with this, I'll also be removing the limit of each entry being tied to a chapter, allowing for overall random updates that can instead give looks into the character's everyday life (Such as Fei's adjustment to her new life, or the occasional bit with Spike trying to get used to Trace being around).
Now the reason I'm even posting this blog is both to make this announcement and ask my reader's their opinions on the matter. If you have anything to say on the matter, whether you agree with the change or think it should stay as-is (or hell, if you think I should just cancel it and focus entirely on my other two stories) please, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
