Worst Night Ever · 4:39pm May 29th, 2012

I've been gone for 6 days on a vacation-thing to pick up a friend's new car in North Carolina, attend an anime convention with one of his long-time friends, and then drive that car back.

Then tonight:

-I hit a deer just a mile away from the very last off-ramp of the trip home, at 1 in the morning after driving 12 hours.
-The deer died instantly. The car barely fared better.
-Three hours later, after calling AAA, getting the car towed, getting my car, getting stuff out of the towed car, and getting my friend home, I can finally drive home.
-Driving home alone in the dark was a mess. I don't think it's unfair to say I was having some minor Post Traumatic Stress, driving really slow and worrying about what's around blind corners and having anxiety symptoms and such.
-Finally I do get home and I check EQD and find out that TABITHA ST. GERMAIN, voice of Rarity and Luna and well known to be rather reclusive, is actually going to Everfree Northwest, and I'd been thinking lately that maybe I'd be able to go despite living across the country! I start planning on how I can swing the costs involved and...
-Everfree Northwest is sold out and I don't have a ticket.

I'm so tired right now. I'm just... so tired.

Goodnight.

Edit: it's the next morning and I feel rather a bit better now. Having a place to vent for the night helped me get to sleep. Don't expect this to be a normal thing, though! Usually I don't have such horribly exciting evenings.

Same here... same here... on the Everfree part (AND I EVEN LIVE IN BLOODY WASHINGTON, DAMMIT. NO EXCUSE.)... not the deer hitting... :raritydespair:

Ah, hope everything gets better man. Thinking about you tonight. :fluttershysad:

D:

I hate deer so much. I've hit two of the fuckers.

Damn deer! My grandparents have totaled three cars because they hit deer. Fuckers come out of nowhere.

141425
Deers must hate you too, for killing two of them... :fluttercry:

141329 Aww, jeez, at least I live in New York so not going is gonna save me a lot of money. I'm really sorry to hear you can't go, either. D:

141342 Thanks, Edock, I appreciate it.

141425 D: indeed. Dumb deers. I like deer, too, but not when they give me PTSD.

141486 Yeah, it came from across 4 lanes of traffic and must have leapt over a big metal divider PERFECTLY timed to basically teleport right in front of my friend's car. It's going to take a little time coming to terms with the fact that when you're driving anything could suddenly happen and there's nothing you can do.

141615
They make mighty fine chili

141604
They didn't die :| I drive a civic.
Which pissed me off a bit more, honestly.

I live in Alabama. There's isn't a bag limit on does around here because they breed so fast they are nuisance animals 'round these parts. I used to live near Thompson GA, which is the deer strike capital of the world because idiots decided to stop hunting deer for a decade, but had already driven the predators out of the area. So instead of being kept in check, they just ended up everywhere.

If you kill all the predators, you NEED to kill a ton of deer to keep them from overrunning everything.

141615 it's ok I saw a guy hit a deer while rising a motorcycle. Instant death. It's dangerous to drive 1). At night in the middle of nowhere 2). In an area of known deer activity.

141632 god I haven't had a good bowl of deer chili in years. Also deer meat, great jerky. My grandfather makes the best deer jerky I've ever tasted.

Sorry to hear about the rather depressing turn of events, though I'm happy to hear you're feeling the tiniest bit better which is better than nothing at all.

142290 Yeah, I'm feeling better and better. I might even try driving again at night sometime next week. >.>

141615 I was kinda on the fence since Fri and Sat are busy days at my work, and I wasn't sure I could get them off, but then when I decided to buy the tickets in case I could for peace of mind... yeah. HEY at least 2 of my best friends get to go and tell me ALL ABOUT IT.
:ajbemused:
ANYWAYS enough about my lame problems, I'm quite sorry you had to hit a deer. I don't imagine the thought that you killed such a creature was a fun one to deal with.

142929 Not my favorite part of the ordeal, no. :fluttercry:

*hugs*
