Hoo-boy, where to start...
'Sweetie and Dimmy' hit a minor roadblock in the form of some work I'm doing for a local non-profit that raises money for St. Jude's. They're called Hart of Fear (they raise money by doing haunted houses and such) and they contacted me after someone forwarded them 'Slender.' They asked if I could do non-pony stuff as creepy as that and I wrote them a sample.
Long story short, they've appointed me head writer of this year's haunt.
While I have to include the notes and scenes the other administrators want, the main backstory and theme of the haunt is entirely in my hands. My work will be on the Hart of Fear website when it's finished and distributed on our promotional materials.
I've been working super hard to get that done... so 'Sweetie and Dimmy' is in stasis. I still plan to have it done by the end of the month.
Some other notes;
-Also waiting for 'Sweetie and Dimmy's' cover art to be finished by good friend Kaitlyn Warner. She did the cover for 'Paternally Yours,' so I thought it was only fair to give her this one. (Sorry Swirling.)
-The full, detailed synopsis of 'the Changelings Have a King' is finished. Writing should commence mid-summer.
-There's a special surprise on the way; a Guest Chapter in 'Morning Glory' being written by one of my very favorite followers and fellow writers. She's enjoyed a great deal of recent success in the past month and I can't wait to see what she adds to one of my most popular stories. (I'll hold back on naming her just yet... unless she wants to be revealed.)
-Speaking of 'Morning Glory,' I'm not finished. Just waiting for the mood to strike me to write another one.
-Since I'll be busy with a Big Fic this October, I'm shelving the Halloween Trilogy. Instead, there'll be just one story; the chilling conclusion to the Slender Trilogy, 'Lunar Slender.'
-What'd you think of the Season 4 Finale? I enjoyed it thoroughly, and it even gave me the answer to a problem I had for 'Changelings.' Expect a certain G1 Monster to show up early on in the story... frozen in the caverns beneath Canterlot Castle.
Hmmm... wasn't there a mention of something in those caves in my timeline...?
Can you post your "Hart of Fear" work somewhere, fanfiction.net or blogpost here? What I mean is, since you're hired, does you contract (or whatever you have with them) allow you to post it somewhere else?

That's not a problem at all. I'm sure that cover will be beautiful. As I said to another client about about another using another artist:
1 It gives me a break. And everyone needs a break now and then
2 It gives another artist a chance to shine.
3 It allows you to have cover art that matches the tone and theme of the stories better when you have different artists with different styles. (In your case, dark horror and sweet family stories.)
I'm sure there are more reasons I'm forgetting....
