Bear with me as I take you through my chapter layout and how I structure a chapter.
Normally going off a story I know how I start it, and if I'm lucky how I want to end it. From there I work on the middle bits, and I usually have a good idea of where I want chapters to start and when to stop.
Prime example, I knew how I wanted Max's first chapter to end...at the Library. Did I plan on having Applejack head out to get some 'special' cider for him? Hell no. That idea came to me after I typed out that he needed a drink. The light-bulb went off if you will.
I know where I want Chapter 2 to end, problem is I've had so many unique ideas and conversations pop up that it's eating up a lot of pages. I've currently got 7 pages of Chapter 2 written thus far, but I'm no where NEAR where I want it to end.
When I say I'm ending a chapter where I want it to end, I stick to that. So this chapter is either going to match chapter 1 for length, or much more likely go past that number.
What does this mean for you the readers?
It means Chapter 2 is taking longer than expected. If I'm lucky and not too distracted tomorrow (or drunk) I should have it done tomorrow someday and posted up by then. If I'm too distracted then you're looking maybe mid-week.
Don't fret though, if I'm lucky I'll tackle as much as I can tonight, I am as Rarity says 'In the Zone' as it were. Burning the midnight oil as it were, so I may just surprise you guys.

Hey there! Nice to see you keeping us updated with your story.
I'm admittedly a lot more excited about this one, seeing as how Max Payne is one of my favorite VGCs of all time, so there's that. As I said, keep your head up and keep writing! Don't rush, and take your time. 
The last time I rushed I wrote myself into a wall. Which I had to carefully back out of. That cost some time.
So no rushing, but lots of getting into the zone.
Take your time, bro. You can't rush brilliance like this.
Still going, Chapter 9...
I'd expect it to be ready sometime mid-week.
I'm calling it a night now. Even I know if I push it anymore the quality of work will begin to slip.
