Okay, so remember those computer issues I was having that was getting me seriously down and lost a chunk of Chapter 70? Well I gave the last chapter out early because I didn't think I'd have Friday open because I'd be setting up my AWESOME NEW COMPUTER! ^_^ Welp, I got it all installed and working Friday, as anticipated, even though it took me most of the day. I even got to play a cool game for twenty minutes before I went to bed!
Saturday, the graphics card blew out on it when I turned it on... Factory defect, it turns out. Now I get to return it to the factory to get it repaired, which will take 12-16 days.......
In even better news, I also learned a valuable thing about DropBox! It turns out that it's not like a jump drive. Dragging a file out of it and, say, onto your desktop actually performs a 'cut' option rather than a 'copy' one that most external data storage devices use. Using my new computer to touch up what I had left of Chapter 70 turned out to be a mistake, it would seem. I won't get the remains of the chapter back in time for it to actually be of use, so I'm just going to have to totally re-write it.

I'm also having issues with graphics. Sometimes I think GPUs have become so complicated no one knows how the entire thing works so there is lots of little oversights which cause it to break in many specific situations. And I happen to run in to every single one.

I actually lost an entire story once (10,000+ words), so I started using gdocs. It's also an easy way to share with your editors.

The good thing to come out of this is you didn't spend half the post lamenting how we'll be set back and apologizing and all that. It shows you are improving.

That's very unfortunate. Kind of like how my previous laptop just died while I was using it. It just turned off and refused to boot again (the screen wouldn't even light up and all it did was make some noise and turn off again when I pushed the power button.
By the way, best way of backing up stories is... *two words*, a Hard Copy. Make one in the future. Sure, it'd be tedious to type back in, but you'd have it.

? What OS did you install on your new computer?
so um, just be sure. you know Dropbox has a history feature right? and for about a week you can undo any delete operations? and all files have a change history that can let you go back in time?
