An Excerpt From One Last Crusade Chapter 3 · 10:53am May 12th, 2014
I realize I have been promising all these new stories without updating you guys on my current one. Well, here is a little segment highlighting the main event happening in the 3rd chapter of One Last Crusade. A chapter titled One Step Ahead.
Scootaloo quickly awoke from her sleep. She sat up breathing heavily. Her orange coat was drenched in sweat, the feathers on her wings clasped together due to the natural secretion.
"Just a dream," she reassured herself, "it was only a dream... Thank Celestia."
she carefully climbed out of the wagon, hoping the groans of it's worn out axles squealing due to the sudden change of weight wouldn't wake her friends.
After the timberwolves event, she had pushed the wagon carrying Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle, though the crumbling front door of the ruined castle, and climbed inside to sleep as well. Since the sky gliding event however, Scootaloo had been having trouble sleep... A particular nightmare that wouldn't leave her alone made sure of that.
You never listen to me Scootaloo. This time, you don't deserve my help.
Hearing Rainbow Dash say those things to her in the dreams only made them hurt worse...
Scootaloo shivered. Thinking about the nightmare, which always ended the same tragic way, scared Scootaloo worse than the old castle they were spending the night in. "I just need some water... that'll help calm me down," she said softly to herself.
Her orange saddlebag unfortunately was buried underneath Sweetie Belle's, who as much as she tried to deny it, packed a lot like her older sister Rarity. As Scootaloo lifted a wing to try and nudge the bag just enough so she could open the flap to her own, the sound of a door slamming far off in the castle made Scootaloo scream. she completely pushed the heavy white and purple bag off her own, and on to the floor, its contents spilling everywhere. The sound echoed throughout the empty stone halls, making it difficult to pinpoint exactly where it came from.
The two fillies resting in wagon sat up in an instant, both appearing wide awake, but not fully aware of the situation.
"Um... Scootaloo? Was that you?" Apple Bloom asked her winged friend.
"The one who did the screaming, or the one who slammed the door?" Sweetie Belle questioned Apple Bloom's question. She raised both hooves and rubbed her eyes ferociously.
The small yellow pony shrugged.
"Both?"
Scootaloo quickly stuffed all of Sweetie's random knick-knacks back into her bag and threw all three bags into the wagon. She lifted her scooter up from its laying down position, and attached hitched it back to the front of the wagon. As she quickly worked her eyes scanned the darkness of the balcony above, and the hallway in front of them for any signs of movement.
"Look, girls. I didn't slam anything... but I think maybe it's time we-" Scootaloo started to explain, but the sound of another door slamming cut her off. This one, much closer.
Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom embraced each other tightly, both shaking with enough force to make the wagon creak.
"Can w..we.. leave please?" Sweetie Belle whispered. Apple Bloom nodded in agreement while Scootaloo searched the ground nearby for her helmet.
"why would you wanna leave so soon?"
Sweetie Belle turned her head to scold Scootaloo. "Probably cause this place is really really creepy?! Why would you ask that?"
Scootaloo's teeth were chattering, her voice maintaining a steady studder as she replied.
"Sw...sweetie... I... I... didn't... s...say... that..."
The white fillies eyes widened as Scootaloo's words hit her.
"But... If you didn't... Th...then who did?" she asked squeezing Apple Bloom tighter. As she turned her head to face the darkness on her immediate left, and the direction Scootaloo was facing, she felt a sudden cold chill on her neck.
"Me."
The door concealed by the darkness slowly opened, revealing the tiniest bit of light in. For a brief moment, there wasn't a sound. Until out from the abyss rolled Scootaloo's helmet. The wonderbolts insignia that was proudly displayed on it just hours ago, was unrecognizable, now replaced by claw marks.
The door slammed. And the fillies started to scream.
I know it's been a long time since I've updated... well I think it's about time I fixed that before I focus on putting out new stories. I hope this little chunk excites you guys to read the rest! I hope to have it ready for my editors by wednesday. SolongStarbird... Blood Lord... are y'all as excited as I am for the release of the third chapter?

I'm hoping you'll enjoy the next chapter... a bit more dialogue and character development rather than action like the last chapter
