Soon you will no longer be able to make changes to Google Docs through this device.
I'm paraphrasing a bit, but that's the basic jist of what I've just found out upon trying to fiddle with my docs and shit using the Google Drive app. The reason for this? Google is separating the standard Google Drive app into multiple apps. Drive will function as the cloud hub of them all, and they have released specific apps for docs, spreadsheets, and slides. Now, this by itself wouldn't really be ALL that bad... except for the fact that not only are the current versions supposedly as bad as an alpha-version, but THEY ARE INCOMPATIBLE WITH MY FUCKING PHONE.
Now, I don't exactly have the newest or oldest phone to use for this sort of thing. I have a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit. It's a good little piece of hardware that has served me pretty well. In fact, my entire writing process can be summed up thusly:
Write out the story on a simple flip phone (It helps me focus a bit better, somehow)
Text pages to my email
Copy-pasta to google drive app with a few edits if I catch problems
Post new chapter to fimfic
Google has essentially started to fuck all of that up. The change-over isn't final yet, apparently, but once it is, my Google Drive app won't be able to change my docs, and my phone is physically incapable of downloading the app I do need, which is apparently of shitty quality right now anyway.
So yeah, fuck you, Google.
