Then it's my very strong suspicion that you'll enjoy Skywriter's new story, "Cousin Braeburn Writes a Crop-fic". It's tagged Mature, but it's not really any worse than "Purple Prose" or "Transference", both of which I left on Teen. It's also probably the hardest I've laughed at a pony story in the last month, which is why I want to help make sure it gets good exposure.
Really, really wonderful stuff.
And actually, while I'm on the topic, I also want to mention Brony_Fife's "Are You Kidding?! There's PORN of Us?!" which is doing similar work, except with ponies and an internet connection. This came across my EQD pre-reading desk a few months back and I felt like I had to turn it down for a couple fairly small reasons like Apple family voicing and being maybe a bit more mature than EQD might be comfortable with, but again, I think it's a very safe bet that if you liked "Purple Prose", you'll enjoy this. I wanted to mention it earlier, but I'd kept hoping that the author would resubmit after making a couple small changes, so I held off. I'm guessing that's not going to happen at this point, so I might as well send him the signal boost I'd always meant to.
So, two stories I think you might enjoy. I usually try to be pretty sparing about tagging my stories in blog posts and getting the extra exposure, but I really do think that if you've got that one in your favorites, you'll find these recommendations very much to your liking. Pleasant reading, everyone!

Thanks for the signal boost! I was on the fence about the mature tag, but since a large part of the humor is, y'know, sex jokes, I erred on the side of caution to avoid horking people off.

I think that's pretty fair. I tend to be willing to put Teen on anything that doesn't get completely explicit, but I do occasionally worry about it, since both "Purple Prose" and "Transference" have some pretty thinly-veiled just-offscreen-except-for-the-noises sex scenes. Nobody's complained so far, but "Transference" is my most-disliked story, so it's possible I'm just not hearing about it.

I thought the "mature" tag was a joke. No, I'd say that story is 'teen'.
...though I admit I read it partly just to see what a 'mature' Skywriter story would be.
Now I want to write a story where Applejack gets upset because Apple Bloom has gotten an adult book from the library. It's on existentialism, instead of the animal husbandry book she was supposed to be reading, and now she's wandering listlessly around Sweet Apple Acres saying things like "Hope cannot be said to exist, nor can it be said not to exist."
That reminds me--I never wrote that story where Trenderhoof introduces Zecora to modernist poetry.

Like every single member of the pony species ever, I think Apple Bloom would indeed get far too affected by something she's read. So yes, you should totally write that, is the answer.
2088887 Well, the only reason to write it would be to tag it "Mature" due to the use of philosophical ideas not recommended for anyone under the age of 30.
So, a lot of work for one joke. Sounds more up your alley.
