Special offer for Singularity readers · 1:28am May 4th, 2014
As you all know, Singularity is in the process of wrapping up its second arc, and after that things are gonna be a little quiet while I work to fully envision all of what the next arc should entail. In the meantime, after the abnormal success of Sandbag in Equestria (seriously, I expected to get a lot less likes than it currently has) I've decided to write another spin-off to help satisfy you fine people.
But there's more to it than that, however.
Remember when Obselescence conducted Fimfiction Writes Ponies and- oh who am I kidding, you all know where this is going if you read that story, and if you haven't then you have no idea what greatness you missed.
So, yeah, I'm inviting all of you to help write the Singularity spin-off over on GDocs. In case you weren't able to participate in FWP, consider this a lesser alternate to that grand scale train wreck of epic proportions.
Everything will work the same as it did for FWP, with the key differences being that there'll be fewer people (I fully expect none of you to bother with this thing, but I'm always eager to be proven wrong) at work on it, the length of time will be significantly shorter (I plan on ending free reign of the GDoc come Monday at around 12:00 p.m. EST), and I will expect the story to be much more coherent since it's a one shot.
As was the case with FWP, which started out troll-infested and hard to manage until Obs enacted some authority, I will do as he did and require that you ask for permission before I allow you access to the GDoc, to which I ask that you PM me your e-mail address so that I can send you its link. Everyone who contributes will be credited in the description (where I tell potential readers to give all of you their undying love and praise even if it's at the story's expense).
If no one offers to help, that's fine, as it just means I'll have to finish the story myself. Although, having some help with the spin-off would allow me to concentrate more on the main story, thus making it come out quicker. Just saying.
At any rate, here's the basic premise of the story in its current form:
Aza has another planet within itself that it's keeping secret from the main group of victims located in a galaxy far, far away from theirs. On this planet, Aza's hosting what it calls The Multiversal Cuteness Contest, wherein participants have to prove themselves as more gag-inducingly cute than their competition. Diabetes are fully expected and encouraged, to which the participants aren't held liable for any such deaths among the audience.
After searching the multiverse for the cutest characters it can find, Aza assembles a final cast of the CMC, Pikachu, Mudkip, and Kirby to compete in the contest where the winner receives nothing special except the claim to fame of being the cutest character of the multiverse, or at least among all the universes Aza checked. Either way, none of them are returning home until a winner is decided.
What happens next is up to all of you. Of course, you all could potentially change the story completely and make it nothing like what I've already written, but you wouldn't do that, would you?
Maybe you would, I can't read your minds. Still, I'd prefer it if the story stuck to this premise. If you all want to change the characters around a bit, that's cool, though I don't know how you can possibly find any character who's given people more diabetes than the above six. But whatever, if you want to change things around there won't be anything to stop you, except me of course, but I won't revoke anyone's permission as long as things stay on a single track.
So, yeah, that pretty much covers everything I wanted to say . . . except for one last (not-so) teeny tiny little innocuous thing.
If all goes well with this, I might start to seriously consider allowing people to help write chapters of the main Singularity story as well; using all the characters you requested, of course.
