    Something Neat I Found

So, like any normal author who writes fanfiction about a pony named Anon, I often browse the oc:filly anon tag on Derpibooru. Well, today while taking a look in there, I found something that really, really made me smile. Sure, these aren't my bug, Anonymous Flicker, but it's great to finally see some changeling queen Anon arts out there. I still positively squeed when I saw them.

Events to come and User Input

So now that Make Your Mark has reached its apparent conclusion, I have a vague outline for the path that Vlogs of an Ancient Insect may take. That said, I'm looking at concluding things at Roots of All Evil - Part 2 before going into an epilogue. Before I go too far with things, I thought I'd shake some things up with some community input on canon events.

    Chime in after the break.

    Going Forward

As it stands, there are two chapters currently completed, with one of them ready to go on Monday. After that is posted on Monday, I will be putting Diaries on a release and potential work hiatus until the new year. More thought needs to be put into the story's central final arc. Presently, we are in a cooldown from the Storm King's Invasion/Manehattan arcs, in what I tentatively think of as

Thoughts so far? / What you'd like to see?

Dunno how many will see this or respond, but to those who do, I've got a few questions for you all, mostly to see where your heads are at. I've generally been enjoying writing this story and it's technical sequel, and I've got the overarching plot of the story planned, but I've been curious where reader thoughts are at regarding the story so far. I'd love to know what you like or dislike about

So, uh... Story stuff, and New Vegas stuff. · 2:26am Apr 27th, 2014

First thing's first. I have been working on the next chapter of The Alchemist's Heart since the release of the previous one. Heck, as it stands, Chapter 33 is already 'complete'. Things have just been delayed by a partial rewrite/extension of the chapter that occurred after three out of four finished their edit runs. I'm pretty much just waiting for the guys to make a second pass on the modified sections before I label it cleared for release.

That being said, I don't plan on releasing the chapter in question without the accompanying chapter. It's a personal choice given the way this chapter has come out. I know that some are upset that in the past I have portrayed Celestia and Luna as distant, out of touch or 'stupid' in regards to Silver. Because of this, I have decided to hold off until I have completed chapter 34 [in which there will be no porn; the rule does not apply here]. In this chapter, we will be seeing the return number of old friends, one of whom we all know Silver desperately needs a sit-down with.

This, of course, is where the problem comes in. I recently started playing Fallout: New Vegas again, after playing it years ago on the 360. In no short terms, I've been basically addicted. With the inclusion of all the DLC from the Ultimate Edition, and the mods I've loaded, I've been having a hard time putting it down. "I could be writing right now, but New Vegas," sums up how the last week or so has gone for me. Started a fresh character, and did the House ending. Now I'm nearing the end of a Melee NCR playthrough, in which I've already completed Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road. Heck, I'm already planning out my Hardcore 'Independent' play-through. Still can't decide whether or not I'm going to make this one the explosives character, though. Hardcore? Probably not.

Any suggestions on mods that aren't complete overhauls or UI tweaks? Here are a few mods that I'm presently using.
Darnified UI + oHUD + Unified HUD Project
Pipboy Readius
Weapon Mod Menu
Weapon Mods Expanded
Roleplayer's Alternative Start
Signature Weapon + Signature Armor
Beauty Pack Plus - Project Mikoto
After School Special.

Oh, and if you haven't heard of Signature Armor or Signature Weapon, I highly recommend you give them a try. They make dedicating a playthrough to a specific weapon/armor, as well as making wearing suits/dresses a viable option. The weapon one is a bit unbalanced, especially if you're using Gehenna from Gun Runners Arsenal with weapon mods from WMX and all the melee and fire related perks. Rather shameful when I can hack apart death claws in but a few swings. Hell, even the Irradiated Deathclaws in The Courier's Mile weren't really a threat when I popped a turbo and some rushing water. Then again, I'm also rocking power armor with a bonus to damage resistance [not threshold], carry weight, and a discount on action point usage.

Thoughts?

If you want New Vegas Hardcore to be really Hardcore, I recommend the J.E Sawyer End-User Fix. Apart from fixing a few issues with perks not working properly with certain weapons, it changes aspects of the game for an incredibly challenging experience.
Early game, you WILL go down to Powder Gangers with 9mm pistols. Easily. And it only gets harder from there.

Oh my goodness. I have some mods for you!

Also, what do you mean by 'overhaul'? Clarification would be nice on that one, as I'm not sure what qualifies or not.

First and foremost, Mission Mojave is a must if you don't already have it. Other mods that I use:
Type 3m body replacer
Type 6m body replacer (requires type 3)
Daughter of ARES (requires type 6, is really nice visually)
No Quest Items
NV Interiors Project
SPECIALer stats mod
Unlimited Companions mod
CASM auto save mod (way better than the vanilla autosave feature)
Higher Companion level cap
Max level adjustment (I use level 75. You can use 60, 75, and 100 as options)
Nevada Skies
Perk Every Level
Working Chemistry Sets
NCM's Texture mods (use first)
Poco Bueno Texture mods (use second)
EWI's ultimate texture pack for New Vegas (use last)
KAWAII Deathclaws and Cazadores
Streamlined female pipboy 3000
Digital Nightmare (Music mod)
Mod Configuration Menu
Increased Performance Pack
Cowboy Repeater without peep sight
Mosin Nagant
Winchester M1897 Trench Gun
WA 2000 .308 caliber version
Weapon Retexture Project (works great with WMX)

yeah, I know, it's a lot of mods, but I think they are all pretty damn useful.

I've been having so much fun with New Vegas. Been playing it for well over a year now, and I still can't get enough of it. I would have recommended some quest mods, but the ones I tried in the past always glitched on me and crashed the game. I keep my game experience as crash-free as possible.

Yeah... lonesome road is hard if you try to do hardcore mode on very hard, with a light armor, melee character. Deathclaws one shot me. I do keep a few range weapons for those cases, but still near impossible when it's a shotgun.

2051460 When I mean overhaul, I mean things like FWE for Fallout 3 [I admit, I wrote that out just so it would essentially rhyme instead of having Fallout Wanderer's Edition], so I suppose that's essentially striking Mission Mojave off. I find that unless otherwise mentioned in the description, complete overhauls usually find something to clash with. Hell... I'm still not sure what was causing the crashes on hardcore offer when I had Yukichigai's unofficial patch installed, that, or that Mod Configuration Menu injection that allowed you to tweak things [damage, loot rates, etc.] like you could in FWE. All I know is that something in my list wasn't compatible with one of those two things.:scootangel:

I would have installed Perks every level, but apparently it has never been updated to co-operate with the DLC and the raised level cap. I'm using a Type 3 body right now [Beware of Girl], and with the Readius, I don't even need a pip-boy mod.

SPECIALer stats sounds like something I'll want for my next playthrough for certain... if it weren't for the incompatibility with Roleplayer's Alternate Start.

Surprisingly, I'm actually okay with the not-so-great vanilla textures.

2051524

lol, Mission Mojave isn't really like FWE though. It's basically fixes your entire game. Last I checked, it fixed... over 27000 bugs and glitches. It doesn't add anything new, just makes the game playable.

I never used either of those two mods, so I wouldn't know for sure.

Perks Every Level, I can confirm that I am above level 30, where the raised level caps take place, and I still get a perk with every level. Also, duh me for that. I totally blanked on readius.

I know a few that are as well. I myself am fine with the vanilla textures, but I am a huge fan of EWI's textures. It's not even about the resolution; they are just gorgeous visuals. Oh, speaking of visuals, also look at Mojave Nights. That mod looks amazing.

I also happen to have a question for you. Do you know of any cleaner New Vegas mods that remove trash and litter off the ground that doesn't suck? I am trying to find one, but they either crash my game, or make things worse, performance-wise.

2051569 Nah, can't think of any decluttering mods.

I think I may have got it into my head that Perks Every Level wouldn't work with my playthrough because I was at the time considering More Perks as well. Heck, if I could find out if the clothes to power armor thing could work on Naughty Nightware [more like Rawr armor at that point, given what the Beware of Girl type 3 body replacer turns it into] and not just gambling suits/day ware, I still might consider it.

2051912

Ahhh, yeah, More Perks doesn't wanna play nice, for some reason. Are you talking about the signature armor being applied to naughty nightwear though? I was pretty sure that you could do that (I agree with rawr armor~ :rainbowwild: ).

btw, if you have the modern weapons add-on for the Weapon Mods Expanded mod installed, it might interfere with the GRA add-on. I know for me, it prevented me from using the extra ammo types, like the dragon's breath shells, or the flechette shells.

2051936 Nah. One of the perks from More Perks grants the player the ability to convert a piece of clothing into power armor with the stats to match at a workbench. I never ended up going with More Perks because it seems to conflict/break with Perks Every Level. And nah, didn't go with the WMX-MW addon.

2051980

Huh. Sucks with the conflict.

Were there any other mods that you use that you didn't mention?

2051997 Neigh. I effectively listed everything but the individual DLC packs.:pinkiecrazy:

Yay thread necromancy! I am hear to speak the word of TTW, or A Tale of Two Wastelands. It moves fallout 3 into the New Vegas engine, meaning your FNV chars can go to the Capital wasteland, and vice versa. Lots of NV mods work with it, and some Fo3 as well. There are also a lot of mods that people have made for it specifically, the one I'm currently trying to get working is called Panzer.

2300504 I just started back up with Fallout 3: FWE. Enjoying that.

2300508 That's a tough mod, especially if you really crank up the difficulty. NV has Project Nevada, which does about the same thing, except better imo.

2300510 Personally, I dialed FWE back, setting the experience, loot, radiation, and a slew of other things back towards 'vanilla' settings, though I keeps a number of features as they were, including fitting power armor. Primary Needs was not one of the ones I kept. At some point I actually need to start toying with bullet time.

2300519 Yeah, power armor fitting is one of the things I miss from fwe. That's to some degree what Panzer tries to do, along with a slew of other stuff.

2300532 I also love the ability to craft repair parts for weapons, or power armor repair kits. Also slowed down item degradation.
