Just take a good, long look.
It's adorable, sure. Go click on the source, hundreds of people agree. You could even say it's generically adorable, like it's a popular opinion that everyone assumes to be true. But for me, it's cute and unnervingly creepy at the same time. Their smiles of joy never reach their eyes. The eyes themselves seem whimsically happy to see you open your door, but they also appear cold and lifeless. The faces seem almost made of plastic, with the way those tears stream down their cheeks without being absorbed into their fur. The manes look like they belong to Barbie dolls; uncomfortably stiff. The complete and utter lack of teeth and gums.
But it's still cute.

Their obviously on their last threads, hoping for someone, anyone, to take them in. But they can't hide it. They can't hide their sorrows, as they put on a smile. With a shaken faith, they hope that by acting cute would get them a home. But sadly, they can't hide their desperation.
