    It's Just More Entertaining

You know, after all this time, I'd still rather watch Countess Coloratura sing "The Spectacle" than see Rara perform "The Magic Inside". It's a matter of taste, of course, but to me, the songs and the performance of "The Spectacle" is just off-the-charts more entertaining. I'd much rather see that concert.

    Fimfiction's Autumn

So Seattle's Angels and The Royal Canterlot Library both shut down this week. I confess that I find that to be pretty sad. I had my share of success on this site, but most of my attention came from critics. I really appreciate the time that they took to review my stories and everyone else's who would normally fly under the radar. It meant the world to me, even when the review itself wasn't

    Mystery Figure

Okay, so my friend sent this image to me, and I swear I know who that winged figure is in the back, but I just can't come up with a name. Anyone know who the weird demonic creature is? I swear he's related to Grogar somehow.

Hopefully this link works. I'm too lazy to find my login credentials for Photobucket.

    The image in question.

    Hindsight Hilarity

Been a minute since I've been here, and I decided to read my last for blog posts to see what was going when I was around last.

The second most recent post was written on New Year's Eve 2019 where I spoke about how eager I was for 2020 and how much hope I had that it would be a better year.

    The Newer, Angrier Fimfiction

I'm not around much anymore, so I'm not hip to the latest trends. I dip in every so often to check messages, and about once a week I look at my notifications.

BABScon, Day Three · 12:38am Apr 21st, 2014

I was really tired this morning, but I wanted to see the fanfiction 101 panel that was scheduled first thing. It was interesting to listen to the various authors' takes on what are the fundamentals of writing and how to approach things when you are just starting out. Regidar in particular was interesting to listen to. I feel like I could have a good discussion with that guy about writing.

Bronywriter was texting me from two rows behind, so we got together afterward to find him some food. That turned into the most ridiculously long quest for a burger that I've probably ever been on. I hope that Nation's burger satisfied, because it took us like two hours to get to a point where he could eat it.

I also made him miss the VA signing, which I feel bad about. I think he told me about it earlier in the day when we ran all over the place trying to find where he could get his custom badge. However, I hadn't connected it with the VA signing. Sorry, Bronywriter!

But I basically just slouched around all day talking with various authors. Pulled Statoose back into the mix and then we hung out with Super Trampoline for a while and talked about various other authors.

We totally trashed all you guys.

Okay, that's a total lie. Statoose and Super Trampoline were recommending authors to each other that they thought were great. I was sitting quietly because I never read anything.

Oh, and Statoose was giving out free hugs, and he managed to pull in a large, non-brony family from out of nowhere. The magic of friendship compelled them.

So I basically ended the day hanging out with Statoose and Xepher (Bradel, Horizon, and totallynotabrony swung by briefly). Surprisingly, more conversations on the importance of horsewords and the mechanisms by which they are delivered were had. I know. I'm shocked, too. But it was great fun. It's nice to have these discussions with like-minded people, rather than my office mate. He just blinks in confusion when I try and convey why Pinkie Pie's characterization in Story X is worse than Story Y.

After much hemming and hawing, I finally cut out before the closing ceremony. This will ensure that something completely amazing happens. You're welcome, bronies who stayed. But I basically haven't seen my wife in three days and I didn't really want to wait two more hours for a "Hey, wasn't that great? Let's do it next year!" I'm gambling that nothing of real note will happen, and generally when I gamble, I lose. I can't wait to see how they got a sneak peak at the finale or something…

All in all, this was a really great time. For a first con, I'd say this was a smashing success for BABScon. Not too many noticeable SNAFUs, and plenty of interesting stuff to do. The last day might have been a tad light on events, but I'd rather talk to all these authors anyway.

I very much enjoyed hanging out with you two! :pinkiehappy:

2029757 Yup, I had a really good time talking about fics. It's amazing that we can all spend hours and hours and hours thinking, writing, and talking about this stuff and it's still enjoyable.

Arg... we were attending the same panel Sunday morning, and I didn't manage to catch you! XD Glad you had a good time - I enjoyed it, too!

Light and laughter,
SongCoyote

2031614 Yeah, I kept wondering where you were, but I didn't really have a way to get a hold of you. I probably should have PMed you here, but I was generally beat when I got home. It didn't really cross my mind at the time.

Did you see the guy in the red suit on Sunday. Red on red paisley? That was me.

2031646
Oh, that was you? I passed right by you and gave you a big smile. What a fantastic suit!

Ah well, I am sure there will be future opportunities. In the mean time, glad you enjoyed the con!

Light and laughter,
SongCoyote

2031915 Well, we both live in the Bay Area. We can always grab lunch or something.

And yes, I love that suit. I have a whole bunch of interesting suits like that. I like to shop at Siegel's on Mission.
