Whatever Happened to Princess Sparkle's School for Eccentric Unicorns?

The short answer is, I don't know if I'm ever going to finish it. If you've already given up it, I don't blame you. If you're still holding out hope, consider this the official "it's probably not going to happen." If you're one of the people who favorited it like a week ago, um, maybe you should check the date on the most recent update.

The short answer is, I don't know if I'm ever going to finish it. If you've already given up it, I don't blame you. If you're still holding out hope, consider this the official "it's probably not going to happen." If you're one of the people who favorited it like a week ago, um, maybe you should check the date on the most recent update.

This sucks, because fandom is full of authors who do this, and now I'm one of them. And part of me wants to say to the readers, "boo hoo, some guy wrote and a stupid pony story and now he's not going to finish it for you, suck it up." But I am sorry. I wasted your time, and your emotional investment.

What happened was nothing extraordinary or special. I just lost the will to finish it. It started out as a cool project, but the more I wrote, the more contrived my writing seemed, the flatter the characters seemed. And the fact is, I don't know if I ever really knew where I was going with the story.

I want to write. I enjoy writing, and writing silly pony fanfiction is surprisingly fulfilling. I want to do more of it. But I don't think it's going to be Eccentric Unicorns. I'm shutting the door on it. Maybe someday I'll come back to it. If someone else thinks they can do something interesting with the premise, have at it.

That's unfortunate, I'd rather enjoyed PSSEU.

These things happen, though, so I'm not going to tear up too much about it.

Maybe someday... that's enough hope for me.

Aw.

No wait, that's not enough of a reaction to convey how I feel. Awwwwwwwwwwwww. :applecry:

But still, thank you for at least not being one of those authors who leaves his fans endlessly hanging in false hope. I would of course still love to see more of this story someday, but I'll rest easier in the meantime not pausing to longingly wonder about it every once in a while.

It was a great premise with a great mix of characters and the first few chapters really grabbed me. I'm sad that it won't go anywhere, but it was very good, and I look forward to whatever it is you do next.

Huh, I'd completely forgotten about that one...

Don't give up on it entirely. There are a number of intriguing paths you could take that story. Think about what you'd like to get out of it and see if you can guide it there.

Or you could always just toss it by the wayside, but I feel you should at least try to revitalize it.

Did you get any further than what you posted? Even if it doesn't have an ending, I'd still be very interested in more. The opening chapter was alright, but where the story really proves it's worth was in the first arc, and I remember you took quite the time to post all of that at once. It realy did an amazing job at taking the story and characters in some pleasantly unexpected directions, and, while I'm disappointed we may never see a resolution to that, I'm more disappointes that you thought it was ending up flat and contrived. In the worst case scenario, just come back to take another look at in a year – too much continuous exposure to your own ideas always makes them seem much worse than they are. Good luck with whatever else you write, too!

So, let me get this straight...
This is the only story you've not completed, yet you feel as if it's going nowhere even though it's your most highly esteemed story? That story has over a thousand likes, man. Opportunities like that don't come often.

I understand, but we'll all be sad about it.

That's depressing. I thought it was a fantastic story. I never forgot it, and I've been waiting for updates.

If you absolutely decide that you're going to cancel it, can you at least make a blog post with your ideas of where the story was going and how it would end?

Well, if you need a plot idea:

At the next session, the remaining students hear about Lyra's dismissal and, one by one, walk out.

2024848 I second this. It would be nice to see where it might've gone.

And add me to the list of people sad to see this canceled.

Dang, definitely sad to see this one get cancelled.

That's too bad. It was fairly good. Not going in my top ten lists or anything but solid, enjoyable work that I would have liked more of.

Well, hopefully you can find something else that holds your interest better.

so... we'll never get to see what happens with Lyra and Twilight? Or Trixie? Meh.... This sucks... It was a seriously great idea. I really hope you'll come back to it. It's too good to never be finished.

That's too bad. I really like this story. I guess it's better that you told us so I can take it off my list of stories I check bi-weekly for updates. I enjoyed what you did write and I hope you have fun with whatever you end up doing instead.

At least I'll always have that first chapter. Not many fics have ever gotten me that excited for more right off the bat. I'll be looking forward to anything else you happen to write about the small horses!

yeah, I’m late to the show, but you know what? I like it anyway!

Trust me I've seen plenty of contrived, flat, and one dimensional writing. The Changeling Trials, prime example. Your writing wasn't that. This had the makings of a good story, you never Dues Ex'd problems away, had interesting character interactions, and had a rather smoothely flowing story. I was wondering why that fic hasn't updated for ages. But I thought that like other authors you were just taking ages on a chapter.

Nonetheless, it was a unique story that you should be proud of. And hopefully you'll get the inspiration to finish it up someday.

Thirded, even though it's marked down as on Hiatus, an indefinite hiatus is almost as bad as a cancleation. But hopefully we'll get an update the same time as Halg Life 3 comes out :applecry:. But yeah a blog to see where this was headed would be good.
