Some call me crazy, I prefer loco. I'm just a history major who's pretty much a grade "A" sucker for RariPie, FlashShimmer, and Sunata.

    Finally On Break

I've been in school since the second week of July. Today my finals finally wrapped up and I again have free time. Let me say, it feels good to have feel time time again! Also, I just saw the new Star Wars today. Loved it.

    So yeah.

I can get back to work on To Be Happy. I've had to put work on that on the back burner for the past two months as my university workload increased.

Alright, so for the past two maybe three weeks I've been working on the first draft of an assignment that's worth 95% of my grade for one of classes. I just handed it in today to my professor and boy am I mentally drained right now.

So why am I telling you this?

Thoughts on Frozen and Let it Go · 2:35am Apr 14th, 2014

[Semi-Spoilers below]

So I finally got around to watching Frozen .

All in all, I really liked it.
I'm not going to lie, for a while I was steering clear of any animated Disney movie that wasn't from Pixar these past few years. Can you blame me? Anyway, when I first heard of Frozen back in November and saw this teaser trailer I didn't really think much of it. I wrote it off as just another dumbed down animated movie and lamented for the days of Disney's Renaissance. The movie released without me caring, that soon changed however in the days that followed its release. Everybody I knew was talking about it and this one song in the movie, Let It Go, and how good it was. Now I didn't see Tangled either but I don't remember that movie getting as much praise as Frozen did.

One day in February I decided, "What the heck, I'll give this movie a fair shot. I'll just watch it tomorrow." Tomorrow became next week, next week became next month, and...you get the idea. So now that I watched it I'm kinda here kicking myself for not watching it earlier. It was funny(I never knew a wooden sled could randomly burst into flames), well written, well paced, and overall just really fun to watch. The animation is gorgeous, the character design was was great, and the songs were great as well.

I think that the driving factor that finally got me to watch the movie was all the praise Let It Go was getting. I love music, and I love animation. Put them both together and you make me happy. Although I'm going to say that Let It Go was not my favorite song from the movie, at least not the film's version of it. That doesn't mean I didn't like it, I really and truly did, but my favorite song is For The First Time in Forever and the reprise it had. In my opinion For The First Time had more emotion in it than Let It Go. In a way, Let It Go was kind of a let down but it wasn't its fault.

Let It Go just got so much hype and praise from everyone I knew that watched the movie before me that I guess it kinda was inevitable that it didn't live up to the hype, at least to me it didn't. When I first heard it in the movie I thought to myself, "No, that can't be it. There's probably going to be a reprise that's going to blow me away, right?"

No reprise ever came.

Despite the let down(OPINION) of Let It Go, I still really enjoyed the movie. My favorite character from it being Kristoff, my favorite moments from him being when he was talking with his reindeer.

Now that I've seen Frozen I am tempted to watch Tangled and The Princess and the Frog. Disney animation definitely seems to be going in the right direction which leaves me curious/excited for any future films. I know Frozen 2 is a thing already but I hope Disney doesn't blow this momentum on just sequels. Disney has the chance to begin a new renaissance in animation if they play their cards right.

My verdict, if you love animation and haven't watched Frozen, GO WATCH IT!

Final Score: 9.4/10
