Fimfiction Writes Ponies! - The End · 10:59pm Apr 10th, 2014
Wow. I... honestly can't believe it. I posted this YESTERDAY, and in that timespan we've somehow managed to produce twelve-thousand words of pony pony. A lot of it even manages to tie together surprisingly well, considering that the doc now has EIGHTY-SIX listed accounts with editing privileges.
This has been crazy. That's... pretty much the only word I have to describe it. There's still probably some in-doc cleaning, changing some passages, maybe adding things here and there, that could be done, but for the most part the story appears to be complete. Let me repeat this. Eighty-six people managed to come together to produce twelve-thousand words of pony story in a day.
We did suffer some minor set-backs when some trolls attacked and attempted to crash the doc at various points. The whole gamut of Google Docs abuses was displayed, including find-replacing letters in the story to make it unreadable, posting thousands of pictures of Luna, and changing all the font to white. Which is unfortunate. I had to remove a couple peoples' permissions to solve some doc-crashes, and I find that a little disappointing. I'm not going to name any names, but you guys know who you are.
Anyhow, I set the cut-off date previously at Saturday, but things have moved so much faster than I could ever have predicted, and as a pony story I think it wraps together as well as we could ever hope, given that it had slightly fewer than a hundred people who could contribute words to it at any given time. I'm going to leave the doc open for a while longer, but if it sees no significant activity in the near future, I think we can consider the experiment successfully resolved ahead of schedule.
We've beaten the Elite Four, people, is what I'm saying.
Here's a highlight of some events:
-Lord Apep eats the Sun.
-Mecha-Trixie transforms.
-The fourth wall is broken.
-King Arthur clops to Celestia.
-Twilight infects Apep with a virus concocted of coconut milk and pink mane-dye through his pocket calculator in an elaborate plot to weaken him.
-Rarity is eaten by a ghost-shark.
It's been a lot of work for me to set up, organize, and maintain, and write for this whole shebang, but I'm really proud of all of us for coming together and getting 'er done. Keeping this thing from falling apart has eaten up a lot more time, energy, and stress than I'd expected it to, and I'm kinda tuckered out by it all. It might take a good long while for me to muster the energy to organize another FWP event like this in the future, if ever, but...
Well, I'm proud of all of you. You really stepped up to help make the experiment work, and you should be proud of that. Be proud of yourselves. You've earned it.
Anyhow, I'd like to see the results of this published, so that all Fimfiction can see the results of our blood, sweat, and ponies, so I need to hear two things from those of you who contributed:
1. Your Fimfiction name to be credited. I'm planning to credit all contributors listed on the doc in the published story, but I suspect most of you would be preferred to be credited by your Fimfiction name, instead of the name listed on your Google account. This is in mind, if you've got access to the doc, please PM me confirmation of that your Fimfiction name is paired with your email address, so I can properly list you as a contributor.
2. How you'd like this posted.
There are two methods by which the results of this Grand Experiment could be posted (on the assumption that nobody has any objection or problems with this being posted in the first place), and I'd like to hear from you guys which you'd prefer.
a. The first is that, continuing to act in the capacity of organizer and director of the project, I publish the story, which'll hopefully help get the maximum possible number of eyes on it and allow us to infect everyone with the cancerous results of eighty-six authors working in tandem. Again, everyone listed as a contributor will be credited properly, in the brightest and shiny lights, so don't worry about that.
b. The second is that I make a "Fimfiction Writes Ponies!" account to post this under. I'm a little iffy about going this route, since the new account wouldn't have any followers and it'd be a bit harder to promote the story, but folks might also consider it a bit fairer, so no complaints if you guys'd prefer this.
Hope you guys've enjoyed the ride. See y'all later.
It's done?
1998226 And it is glorious.

More or less. The doc is still open to editing, but if it sees no significant activity for a decent while from here, I'll bump the cut-off date. The goal was to write a semi-coherent pony story, and it seems we've managed to accomplish that.
1998236 Barely. Barley managed to make it even semi-coherent.
1998236 Double
Go ahead and post it to your account.
WeIApep would prefer it.I await the superfluous sanguination of my one and other oculi.
Before I say anything else, I'd like to express my sincere gratitude that you decided to showcase a few of my own in that picture in the blog.
As for the way you should post it, I'd be perfectly fine if it was under your standard account. If you're worried about unfairness, you could always post links to each and every one of our own accounts; all 80+ of them.
~The lizardman has spoken
If we go with "make a new account to host the story," we could all just blog about it.
We were all going to do that anyway.
Probably.
*shrugs*
I'm still as surprised as ever that Apep (my addition!) got so popular as to become the main villain...
You forgot the part with the drugs and hats!
And through your account is fine.
1998280 Strictly speaking as an unworthy outsider too busy drowning in classwork to participate, this seems like the better option. Then it's like it's a special type of official thing that's worth its own separate account and stuff. Plus it'll be fun to see how many followers just this idea can gain all on its own, especially if you guys do sequels.
1998268
I intend to link as many of the 80+ contributors' Fimfic accounts as I can, yes. :V
1998337
Says my favorite story approver (by action, you're officially a mod) along with Meeester.
Bonus too: anyone can start a collab sequel in the "series," as long as Obs or someone is willing to run the account. It could even be shared, perhaps.
Just imagine...

I'm in there, but when I looked in I think my browser bugged out cause the text kept going weird on me as I scrolled down, so in the end I didn't really contribute. Feel free to not list me, and who I am should be fairly obvious as I am very uncreative when it comes to usernames.

Next on the agenda: Fimfiction Writes a Twitch Plays Pokemon Crossover Story
1998375 We have to go deeper.
Fimfiction Writes Fimfiction Writing an Inception Crossover.
1998380 >inb4 the FWP account gets into the site top 50
These are some pretty revolutionary ideas. What a time to be alive.
Do you want us to PM you if we already listed our names and e-mails in the doc?
1998398
It'd be good for organizational purposes, if nothing else. Also, if you have a preference on how you'd like the story to be posted, please be sure to mention such in the comments here.
I'm going with "option a" here guys. Or, as Obs would like to hear it:
"A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, A, Democracy, A, A, A, A,A."
1998361
Sharing the hypothetical account and running any future events by other people through it would have to be pretty under-wraps, if option B's what people decide to go go with. The pre-request-access Document kinda proved that if you don't have some controls on access to something, it's pretty easy for a single person to mess things up.
Could get kind of ugly if the theoretical account's details spread too far and someone decides to change the password.
1998400 I have no preference for which way the story should be posted, it would get more initial views I'm sure if you posted it. Not sure though.
I vote for making a new account for it. Even if only half of us blog about it, that is still 40 people blogging about it.
1998408
You could register it with an email only you know (I believe there's a password recovery option?) and give the account details to only trustworthy users who swear not to give it out.
Which could be hard, but definitely easier than random gmail accounts that have no relation to their fimfiction accounts.
If you go the new account, I'd be glad to blagh about it. Up to you, bro.
1998429 Truth. You can give Gmail accounts an alternate email - your main Gmail, usually - and then use that for recovery if something goes wrong. But if the account details are kept under wraps and only given out to a small staff of people trusted to organize these things, then it shouldn't have a problem.
And if the Gmail is irreparably compromised for any reason, it can be replaced fairly easily and damage undone by restoring from the archives that people will inevitably keep to help deal with trolls.
1998454
This would be a regarding a separate Fimfic account. You can change the associated email/password on that as long as you know the current password.
1998482 So only give the details out to a few important people. TRG has its own "The Royal Guards" account, and that's a much larger group with more at stake than comedy fiction. If it's only given to trustworthy people, it shouldn't present a problem.
I vote posting on Lord Obselescence's account. The more (forced) exposure to our holy (demonic) creation the better!
1998447 Hey RainbowBob, did you contribute anything to this colossal trainwreck of awesomesauce?
~The lizardman is curious
1998580
My gdocs kept on crashing whenever I tried, so no.
1998592 Bummer, it could've benefited from your input. Right?
~The lizardman has spoken
1998482
I'd like to see this become a tradition.
So yeah, I support option B the most.
However, in case we can't organize a sequel, I'd love to see that as many people as possible get to read this masterpiece. In such a situation, option A would definitely look more appealing.
I'm interested on see the second account be swamped by followers.
Well, if we plan on doing this again, I'd say option B. But if this is one of those one-time things, I think we should have you post it; Just because of the followers, and then everyone who contributed could post a blog about it.
Either way would be awesome, I'm gonna blog it either way when it drops!
T'was a grand day, fellows.

No particular plans to run an event like this again. At least... not for a good long while. Sorry, guys. :(
1999388
Well, It was still awesome while it lasted.
Plus, Assertive and I get to finish writing the expunged part of Chapter
3.9Taken: Liam Neeson Rage-Punches Equestria. Even with the immense stain-removing power of OxiClean, Billy Mays won't know what hit him.1999388
Ah. It'll be okay.
...
maybe...
Either way you post it is fine though, so do what you feel is best.
~Dash The Stampede
1999388 Regardless, fimfiction needs more Apep.
~The lizardman demands it
My take: go with a.
A
Definitely A. This deserves maximum exposure.
My god. That was amazing.
