To demonstrate:
How "out of it" I've been of late, I completely forgot that I have an April Fools' story here on the site that I could've plugged during the festivities earlier this week. Written three years ago now--how can that even be possible??--for Equestria Daily's 2011 April Fools' short story contest, it never advanced past the first round. But "A Pony of a Different Color" is attached to this blog post if anyone would like to give it a look.

I had one idea for a story, with the plot blocked out, that I wanted to finish and post by April 1st... and I only remembered to work on the story at the very end of March
Well, at least I already have the plot for my next year's April 1st story already done

The thing to do, see, is write it out, and get it all set up on FimFiction...
and don't publish it, just leave it sit until next about next April. Then all you have to do is hit the button.

It's what I'm probably going to do — though now I'll likely only go past the blocking stage after the season finale, I want to keep it compatible with the canon
