A Sudden Prequel · 6:49pm February 12th
For anyone:
Who enjoyed "Shadow Heart," I seem to have written a prequel to it.
I didn't mean to. But the prompt for the 227th Writeoff contest was "Dancing Shadows," and I thought that'd be a nice venue to explore Flurry Heart's first meeting with the Pony of Shadows.
Of course, the day before the site revealed the results of the contest—a foregone conclusion since mine was the only story submitted—I realized that technically, the story should have been disqualified. The site's rules, y'see, say in part: "Participants may not submit works explicitly connected to another work of theirs." So this story remains appropriately in a state of limbo, neither the winner nor the loser of the contest since it had no competition, and possibly disqualified anyway.
The story's called "Chiaroscuro," and it's over on my Baal Bunny account since it's a Writeoff story.
I'm also almost 4,000 words into a sequel to "Shadow Heart" to be called "Juggler Vain." So we'll see how that turns out...

Is it weird that I'm somehow not surprised that you accidentally wrote a prequel to another of your stories?

If I knew:
What was going on in my brain, it'd be much more difficult for me to rent myself out as a duck decoy, I'm almost entirely certain.
