Another Somber Tale · 11:01pm Mar 27th, 2014
Once upon a time, early in his dark reign, king Sombra decided he would like a grand portrait of himself drawn. Sombra had already been dabbling in dark magic and his body bore the signs of that, but he remained mostly pony in mind. Ruthless pony, but nonetheless one that hated a lie. And so, he gathered painters from around his kingdom and proclaimed - "I desire a grand portrait of myself painted. The one who paints a portrait I`d like will be rewarded handsomely. However, if the portrait is not to my liking, the painter will be shattered."
First painter, knowing that Sombra hated lies, drew a portrait of him as he were - glowing eyes and red horn. Upon appraising portrait, Sombra remarked - "While it`s certainly truthful, I am less then pleased about being depicted as some sort of evil sorcerer." And so, the first painter was shattered and his portrait burned.
Second painter, fearful of his colleague`s fate, drew Sombra more flatteringly - as robust and healthy unicorn king unmarred by dark energies. Upon appraising the portrait, Sombra merely snorted. "While flattering, it`s nothing but a bold-faced lie." - he declared and ordered the second painter shattered as well.
Third painter, mindful of his hapless colleagues, depicted Sombra dancing with his concubine at the grand ball. An opulent crown hid the red horn, and concubine`s fan obscured king`s glowing eyes. Sombra was pleased with the portrait and rewarded the painter richly. And thus, equinity learned the genre of socialist realism.
Brilliant. Is this by any chance a recycled joke?

Guilty as charged.
Oh, this gave me a good smirk! I love the wit you put into these jokes.
