I'm liking the new direction they're taking Luna. They seem more apt to actually give her a personality. Plus she's creepy as hell. I love it.
Jesus, does Luna invade anypony's dream for the hell of it? I think she has a problem.
What was with Derpy? Her eyes weren't crossed.
1945904
well she's gone in on Sweetie and Scoots' dreams so far. I'm thinking S5 she'll get in on one of AB's dreams and hopefully one of Babs' dreams as well. Do all the CMC's.
Have we ever seen Celestia directly help one of her subjects like this outside the comics?
If not, score 1 for Night Princess.
1945901 So creepy...I'm not sure this episode was made for little girls.
Luna!!!!!! Why the hell did her voice change!!!???
That was a really great episode, I think it's one of my top three favorites of season four, and I know it's at least one of my favorites overall. Very sweet episode all around.
Sweetie Belle confirmed for best CMC.
Also, Luna was amazing in this episode.
they changed luna's voice
but all in all i thought the episode was great
did anypony notis that rairity's headress had the all seeing eye on it?
ILLUMINATI
The really unfortunate thing is that they apparently completely lost Luna's ham; she has little to no character in this episode.
WHERE DID THE HAM GO?
Not to mention the flowery language.
On the other hand, there were plenty of adorable facial expressions, and some fun stuff from Rarity and Sweetie Belle.... but it wasn't... amazing.
I... will have to wait to rewatch it, but it definitely was not a 5/5, 4/5, or 1/5. That leaves 3/5 or 2/5... honestly I'm kind of torn. There was some nice stuff earlier on, but the episode felt weak as it went on further, and just not... anything super special. And a weak ending has a big impact.
For something featuring Luna, Sweetie Belle, and Rarity, I was hoping it would knock it out of the park, and it was terribly disappointing relative to that. But it was definitely not a terrible episode. Just... not what it could have been.

I KNOW IT IS TRAGIC!
WHERE DID THE FLOWERY LANGUAGE GO?
THE HAM?
THE YE OLDE ENGLISH?
THE HAM?
THE HAM?
THE HAM?
Okay, I'm done now.
But seriously, very weak showing on her part.
Plus that episode totally needed a joke in there about Celestia and Luna. It played it way too straight. In fact, that was the whole problem; things needed to be much sillier in there. Saying she was outshone by her sister was... just weak compared to what it needed to be. It needed to be something AWESOME. And hilarious. Something which was both understated and made Sweetie Belle feel silly about being overshadowed by her sister.
Honestly I think more time with Sweetie and Luna in the dream would have been a lot better than the running around in Canterlot; having Luna compare to her and Celestia would have both been more interesting and more powerful than the chase scene, and there could have just been a brief bit of Sweetie Belle trying to snag the headdress to fix it, rather than a huge long sequence about it which was bland and kind of unfocused.
Also, Sapphire Shores wasn't nearly sassy enough.
Must... contain... excitement!
Too... much... cuteness!
And Luna has further solidified herself as Equestria's ultimate psychoanalyst. Which is awesome.
That pretty much applies to the entire episode. I loved the return of Sapphire Shores, looking into Sweetie Belle's psyche was a real treat (and one of the darker moments in the show, which I also enjoyed), and most importantly, none of the characters were unlikeable. Yes, Sweetie Belle was acting like a jerk, but I understood why she was acting that way. And that's what made Luna's presence here more than simple fan service. She knew that, too.
Though I have to wonder why Luna seems to only tackle problems that she relates to personally. Granted, we haven't seen every dream she's visited, but both Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle's problems tie in to Luna's transformation into Nightmare Moon in some way. I'd be kinda interested to see how she deals with a problem where she's more of an outsider looking in.
Sweetie Belle is a jealous filly.
She plots revenge and squeaks all shrilly.
Princess Luna acid trip.
Dreamscape dictatorship.
She's traumatized for life, you silly.
This episode was awesome, if only because of the ones before it.
Scootaloo managing to hover for a couple seconds at the third floor window. Applebloom acting as Die Hard death slide using only her tail with two freinds hanging off her, Sweeitie Belle carrying multiple appliques and sequins with her magic.
Then just when you thought it was safe to go back in the closet.
Theyre Ba-ak. (I just had the most awful dream. Or, am I still having it)
But, most importantly of all for the Brony community, the hope that Sapphire Shores will release a Jane Fonda Workout Video, leading off with the music track, Maniac.
Not enough drama and emotion for me like in Sisterhooves Soical.
But some great visuals. and sound effects too..
It was great to have Luna, the dream sequences and Sapphire Shores back.
Now I wait for an episode that will be more impressive than Pinkie Pride.
8/10
See? CMC episodes, man.
1945910
Pretty sure Derpy doesn't have a two-toned mane, thus, that was not Derpy.
It was a changeling!

1946010 Yeah...I didn't see the episode but...am I the only one daunted by the fact that Sapphire Shores had never been seen till now? I mean, her last appearance was all the way back in season 1! The same can be said about Trixie as well!
The only problem I had was Luna's voice, something about it was throwing me off.
Rarity grabs the box with her magic five seconds into chase scene.
Ending, moral, and career ruined.
Excellent episode. We really liked the "A Christmas Carol" tone this episode took.
Sweetie Belle as Scrooge, and Luna representing the three ghosts.
1946145
EXACTLY.
Something was different about her voice.
BEST. EPISODE. EVER!! It was not only a Sweetie Belle episode, but it had Luna , too! Sweetie and Luna are my favorite ponies, followed by Rarity , who also appeared in this episode. This is my new favorite episode!
1945945 She dropped at the end of "Luna Eclipsed". Why does everyone suddenly expect her to go back to talking like that?
1946208 I'm pretty sure it was still Tabitha St. Germain, her voice just sounded different because it was so warm and friendly.
1946213 If only Luna's voice wasn't weird...
That picture... So much daww
I wonder when the episode will be up on YouTube so I can watch it...
1946231 It is up now
Sweetie belle using magic. And so begins the CMC growing up.
Rarity is my best mane six, Luna is my best princess, Sweetie Belle is my best crusader. There was absolutely no chance of me not enjoying the episode.
That's the Sweetiest(and cutiest) Belle ever.
1946214
Her voice dropped in volume, but that doesn't mean her speech patterns had to totally change, or that she had to stop being hammy. Being loud is not the only way to be a ham or to be funny.
Also, no one is really perfect, and the odd slip-up is fun.
Knighty has an obsession with Sweetie Belle, methinks.
...
...
...
I could be wrong.
Creepy Filly Stalker Luna Best Princess!
I absolutely adored this episode. I love evil Belle. The last couple of episodes have been rather lack luster but this made up for it.
Also, Knight I see that you are also a Stoicfive fan. Stoic's work is great, especially the SFW stuff. And Stoic's NSFW is my guilty pleasure. Pity there isn't more M/M NSFW on Stoic's Tumblr.
1945957 We need more of dat sass and appearances!
1946330
Celestia has no doubt rubbed off on her at this point.
Just imagine if Celestia was more like Luna in previous episodes back in the day, and then toned it down as time went on. I bet it would be a riot to see the two of them acting out together.
1945976
Dream Luna perfect stalker. Now Celestia does not need to wonder what the ponies dream about; Luna can tell her. Big brother (errr, sister) is watching you.
Plus, can't have one of the Mane Six repressed and depressed because their little sister got jealous. No, that would not do at all.
Knighty-sama, why you no post more Fluttershy?
Any episode with Luna in it is a good episode IMO
1946078 I only saw a single color but meh.
I like the changeling theory though
I kinda liked it in the start with a good Aesop and nice execution of it. Also the fact that Luna was in it made me fangasm. But then I thought about it for some time and then I found the episode absolutely excellent.
When I saw it I felt like the use of Luna was forced and a gimmick at most. But then I thought and realised how genius it was to include her in this episode. She was perfect to teach Sweetie Bell that lesson because Luna experienced the exact same thing. This the exact same story as Nightmare Moon.
Also the fact that she really wanted to help Sweetie Bell so much that she comes to meet her face to face really shows how much this means to Luna. She knows the pain she caused her big sister and wants to avoid the same thing happening with Sweetie and Rarity.
Excellent characterization episode for Luna. I love this episode
10/10
Saw the first 10 minutes.
Got bored.
Went to play Titan Fall.
More proof that Luna is best princess.
1945904 No wonder the ponies of a thousand years ago were scared of the night, they were clearly terrified of the dream invasions.
I really loved Luna's appearance in this.
Especially the way she referred to her own past and how she felt about Celestia taking all the spotlight, which ultimately ended with her transformation into Nightmare Moon. Gotta love deep episodes.
And Luna is best princess.
There are quite a few episodes I love in this season, but for me this one topped almost them all. The only one I hold above For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils is Flight to the Finish, and even then by just a hairbreadth.
I don't miss Luna being hammy, BTW. Or, at least, not in this episode; she wasn't distressed, and I believe after Luna Eclipsed whether she is distressed plays a big part in when she becomes hammy or reverts to Ye Olde English.
(Come to think about it, I really loved Somepony to Watch Over Me too. CMC for the win )
1945976 None of the characters were unlikable except those 5th birthday party guests. Sweetie's old friends were unbelievably crappy!
