Why I Cancelled "Ponds, Crusaders, and a Doctor" and "The Last of Us Ponies" · 3:58am Mar 15th, 2014
For a while now, my half-finished "one-shot" Ponds, Crusaders, and a Doctor and my unfinished crossover The Last of Us Ponies have been eating away at the back of my mind. I know I originally stated a long time ago that I would continue writing The Last of Us Ponies eventually and that I would finish Ponds, Crusaders, and a Doctor after I finished the first "season" of my main Doctor Whooves series but, to put it frankly, I'm just burned out from both of those stories and no longer have the drive to continue writing them.
Ponds, Crusaders, and a Doctor started out as a random little surprise I wanted to give some of my followers after I made a random survey involving pairing up certain Doctor Who teams with certain MLP characters. It was going to be a simple one-shot and nothing more. But then it grew longer and longer and the duration of time from its initial announcement grew larger and larger. I eventually just decided to upload what I had written so far and decided to turn the one-shot into a "two-shot". And since then, every time I've thought about returning to it has just depressed me. It felt like a chunk of boring homework I had to complete and I just kept prolonging my writing of it further and further while my attention was focused on other stories and ideas. And, honestly, I don't want to go into writing a story in the mindset I have when finishing up some boring homework. This is something I've been contemplating for a while now and now I just want to forget about this two-shot and move on without it hovering over me. When I look back at it, I wasn't very satisfied with how the story was unfolding and I think certain aspects of it could have definitely been executed better. Even when I was writing Part 1, it felt like I was working on homework. Rushing against a time limit I had set for myself when I decided to promise you guys a story based upon the results of that random survey. For those of you who liked that story, I'm really truly sorry but I just don't have the drive anymore to complete it. If any of you wish to continue the idea presented in the story and write your own crossover then feel free. You have my permission. Once again, I'm sorry.
Same goes for The Last of Us Ponies. When I started writing that story, I had just watched every single cutscene from The Last of Us and had this desire to write an MLP story of that nature. For the first few chapters, that drive remained. But now it's gone and, like with Ponds, Crusaders, and a Doctor, thinking about returning to writing that story feels like a chore. I apologize to those of you who liked that story and were following it; and I give full permission to anyone who wishes to either continue the story in their own fanfics or take inspiration from it.
Again, I'm really sorry but this is something that's been eating away at me for a while; and, quite frankly, I just don't want to worry myself about these two stories anymore and simply move on so that I can focus on my Doctor Whooves series, the occasional one-shot, other story ideas, as well as the other stuff going on in my life (nothing bad or depressing, I promise you; just school and stuff). I really hate it when I hit burnout on stories like this. First it was my Narnia/Kingdom Hearts crossover on fanfiction.net and now it's these two stories. I know I'm probably sounding super repetitive now but, to those of you who liked these stories, I really am sorry for cancelling them. I understand if any of you feel angry or annoyed because, trust me, I understand because I've had writers and artists I follow tick me off by abandoning a comic or a story or deleting all of their artwork just because they decide to leave the fandom (that's a rant for another time). I can only hope that you'll continue to enjoy the stories I write.
To end this on a more positive note, here's a clip from tomorrow's MLP episode.
hey, it's okay, if you can't put your heart into a story then it's not worth righting and might turn as a bad story because you just don't want to do it, so it's okay, just keep up the good work on stories you enjoy righting
HA-HA-AHH-AHA-H-AH-AH-AHAHAHAHA! I don't stop laught! Ah, Boulder!
I was a little concerned when you mentioned being burnt out. It's been going around lately. Some of my favorite authors have gone on hiatuses as a result. Anyway, I'm not too bothered seeing these stories go. I know nothing of "The Last of Us" and "Ponds, Crusaders, and a Doctor" wasn't that great.
It seems this Maud Pie reminds me a bit of Audrey Plaza's character from Parks and Recreation.

I'm not burned out of writing in general so you don't have to worry about that. It was just those two stories. In all honestly, I actually feel a lot better now that I've cancelled them. I can move on with my Doctor Whooves stories without those two hanging over me.
1926987 Well that sounds awesome.
Well... Let this be a lesson.
That we can't have nice thingsIf you do to much, then it will all start to collapse. As much as this kinda sucks, let's look on the bright side.
We get more Doctor Whooves yay!
