    Rewrite for the writing gods.

So, I've been thinking a bit bout Gaius n' such and my thoughts have solidified a coherent story-line that I'm pleased with. Sounds great, but when I look back at my previous chapters I...

    UPDATE N' STUFF!

    Heeeeeeey everybody...

Well, the good new is that I'm still alive. The bad news is that I've been reeeeeeealllly lazy, basically I haven't written jack-squat on Gaius for a full weak.

I have, however made yet another story that I probably won't have time to do stuff with! So, that's great!

Taking my time. · 2:37am May 16th, 2012

While writing this new story I quickly realized that I write in an extremely fast and sort of chaotic fashion that has been negatively affecting my story telling and has generally been a real pain to myself when editing.

So, I've decided that I will be taking a slower pace from now on when crafting stories, even to the point of literally saying the words aloud for each sentence.

Anyways, In other news I've been making decent progress on my new short story and I should have the first chapter ready either by this weekend or sometime in the middle of next week.

Question: When do you think the best time to release a story is? The weekend or the weekday?

I pray for the day I no longer plod through paragraphs at snail pace.

Amen brother, but you gotta watch the quality of the stuff or you'll feel rather silly when someone points it out and laughs at you. :pinkiesad2:

Perhaps in the future they will make a spell-check that goes by our own standard of writing and doesn't make you feel worried about a sentence that you know is perfectly fine the way it is...But that's crazy talk.

It depends on when you mainly spend you time writing. If you spend most of the writing process in the weekdays, then finish up the current chapter during the weekend and post it. But if you write best during the weekends, then spend a big chunk of time getting most of it done, then finish up with editing over the weekdays and post it then. And It doesn't really matter when you release it, for it will probably be the same/similar to the version it would be if it was posted on another date. I hope this helps.

117952 The amount of time it takes me to finish a chapter is obscene...I'm too self conscious to be satisfied with any way I put something.

117955

I was thinking more along the lines of when the most people are on to catch it and possibly read it. I notice that a lot less stories are posted during the week, meaning the story stays on the front page a bit longer but the thing is that a lot of people probably don't have much time to read during the weekday.
So, do I post on the weekend when it stays on the front page longer but more people are on to see it or do I chance it to the unknown amount of readers during the week.

117960

And that's why we have pre-readers to help us... *looks back at my sever lack of any long-term pre-readers.* Well shoot...:applecry:

117970:moustache: perhaps you and I can reach some sort of agreement.

117983

Hmmm, Mayhap, mayhap, but I know not how excellent thou art at catching the errors of spelling and while I am able to catch a fair share of them, I am currently engaged with the production of my new story.

117987 true..the offer remains open...Spelling and Diction are strong suits. sentence structure, not so much. I am lenient on inventive uses of word lines.:moustache:

So, I take it that you started following me thanks to my story. If I may ask, how far along in the tale are you and what is your take on it at the moment? Also, how is the new fic your working on turning out?

The last chapter I read was 6...I haven't finished it yet because I've been trying to write.
My take on it is that it's one of the more interesting semi-historical adventure fics that include humans.

I good parallel to it is NoMoreSanity's The Son of the Emporer, which is set around the Napoleonic wars.

The fic I'm working on right now is building up slow but it's hard to tell if what I write has emotional impact. especially since I'm trying to reach out emotionally while raising some serious thought about social existentialism and such things as the true nature of magic.

118028

Mhmm, I know how you feel about the emotional stuff. I'm trying to get the readers to have some kind of emotional connection with a rock. Literally, a rock, a creature made from rocks. (No it isn't Tom or anything related to Tom.)

118036
:fluttercry: :But all rocks are related. They share a common mother in the tectonic womb of the earth. They literally are cut from the same flesh.
:rainbowderp:: You're not gonna go all angst are you,Shy?
:fluttershbad::leave me alone!

:moustache:: Girls, girls! You don't have to fight over me.
:rainbowhuh::We weren't.
:moustache: Oh! well...Carry on!

[that was random. Sorry]

118061
:facehoof: : Spike what did I tell you about the mustache?

118078
:moustache::It's a part of me now twilight. You can't take it away from me. You won't take it away from me.

118094

:twilightangry2: *Magics it away* Welp, that's that.

So, when do you think the best time to release stories is for maximum readers?
