Wait, wait, wait. A Twilight episode... AND a CMC episode?! w00t w00t!

So, we open with the CMC at the library learning some new skil... wait, what the hell?

Silly Scootaloo, Apple Bloom is the one with the mechanic skills!

My First Meth Lab Playset

Sweetie learns magic. And the world shall tremble...

A while back, I mused that the whole "looking for their cutie marks" bit was stale because it's bleeding obvious to anyone with more than half a brain cell (so, Privates) what their talents are. Show Stoppers pretty much laid it right out. But, I followed that by saying, "Hey, wouldn't it be funny if the CMC get cutie marks in something completely different?" And now, Scootaloo is doing mechanical stuff(like she did in One Bad Apple), Apple Bloom is showing an aptitude with potions-making(like in Cutie Pox) and Sweetie is learning magic...

So, my official prediction: the CMC will get their cutie marks this season. Yeah, I know, it's a bold statement, but this season has been rocking our socks with the big reveals or confirmations of people. Plus, the whole "magic key" thing—and possibly, the theme of the entire season—is about affirming who they are. So, I predict that this will happen.

Of course, if I'm wrong, ain;t shit gonna happen.

We then go to the schoolyard where we see the girls playing one of the most dreaded games from my childhood: four-square.

Nightmares of always being the last square...

Wait... wait, is... is that... oh, shit, son! He's back!!

People often level charges of "pandering" against the show, and for completely stupid reasons. Oh, god, the show runners who want you to keep watching and enjoy the product so you will buy their stuff are putting little nods in to you. Man, war is hell. I've been waiting for Pip to come back since his little two second cameo in Putting Your Hoof Down, and now he's back, and more British than ever! Also, it is confirmed that he is just as adorable without the pirate getup.

Diabeetus, guv'na!

Evil Cunt and Pathetic Sycophant Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon show up and try to brag about being rich or whatever, but Sweetie ain't having it, saying they can keep Manehatten, because they get lessons from the Princess!

Implied subtext: fuk ur shit, faget.

I really, really like the character growth on display here. FINALLY, the CMC are getting it through their skulls that these girls are nothing but dumb bullies, and their opinion doesn't matter a damn. Still when DT and SS beg to be taken to see Twilight, too, they concede. Now, unless I read it wrong, they wanted to do so to actually try and be friendly with them. If that is the case, then even more growth.

Of course, when they go, the Bitch Twins show off how shallow they are... while still being adorable.

Not sure if want to snuggle or pimp slap...

Later on, the two bullies tell er'rybody at the school about this, and now we get to the main issue of the story: all the kids want some Twilight Time. Sweetie actually tries to grow a brain and think she can handle this by inviting Twi out to lunch and telling a few foals about it.

Princess Twilight later died in a tunnel after being chased by the paparazzi. What? Too soon?

Of course, Twilight takes this in stride, even signing a few autographs before leaving.

I must go. My planet needs me.

This all leads to the CMC becoming the most popular kids in school. They enjoy their spotlight a bit...

Now, we come to a bit of a puzzler: DT and SS invite the CMC to a pool party. While there, we learn why those two are throwing the party: to keep others out. This is... well, I mean I KNOW that those two are the pinnacle of bullies, but still, this feels like a bit... much. Yeah, they've done "evil" things in the past, but this is evil for the sake of evil. There is no kind of benefit for them beyond making others feel inferior. I get they are bitches, but this makes them look like fucking bitches. Subtle difference.

When the girls try to bail to go to their lessons, the other kids demand to be included.

Picture provided without comment.

I'm a bit saddened that we didn't get a Benny Hill-esque chase sequence, but whatevs. When they arrive at the library, Twilight happily invites them all in, and all seems well... until Pip says he wants to be a CMC just so he can get free stuff for knowing the Princess. Once Twi sees what's going on, she confronts the girls. They say the truth, that they really did just want to keep studying with her, and she accepts... once they prove how serious they take their lessons by showing how much they've improved by practicing. It goes about as well as expected.

Someone call Megapone. He has a clopfic to write...

Actually, random note on that. It was literally 30 minutes after the episode aired when I saw the first clop drawing based on the show. Never change, fandom.

So, the episode wraps up with the CMC showing they actually have improved in their respective areas, landing a bit more credence to my theory that cutie marks are in their future.

A gif I will most likely never use...

All in all, this episode had a LOT of good stuff. We got to see some positive growth from the CMC, and further proved the point that they are at their best when they are not obsessed with cutie marks. This is another reason why I think they will get their marks soon; the writers seem to be catching on to this. The conflict of the story felt real, and wasn't a rehash of lessons learned in previous episodes. The CMC have dealt with fame before, yeah, but anonymous fame, and they suffered for that. This was suddenly being presented with every thing you could want in a social setting: respect, admiration, favors, and having to realize the potential downsides.

If I had to pick some low points, it would be Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Again, I know they are the bullies, but that pool party shtick was a bit to shallow even for them. Still, I laughed a lot at this one. We got more Pipsqueak, which is always a good thing, the CMC seem to be growing but still have the air of childhood about them, which is a good sign that the writers can have them grow, but still stay characters.

So, yeah, I loved this one. Now, we close with the best parts of any CMC episode: the random beetus!

Magic Broom...

Magic mop incident in Ponyville Bachelor Auction...

Jake...shit just got real. :rainbowdetermined2:

I totally fucking loved this episode. Twilight AND the CMC? Come on, I loved that, and the interaction between Scoots and Twi only helps me with mah main story. :twilightblush:

Benny Hill-esque chase sequence,

We've already had one of those, remember? It was in The Ticket Master episode, at 18 minutes in. :twilightblush:

I was expecting Twilight to get her key this episode (did you see the diagram of the chest taped up on the wall?), so I was surprised by that. I suppose that will have to wait for the season finale.

Getting cutie marks this season? Maybe, but I still believe that will only happen when the show is ready to end for good.

Also, Twilight was really good with the kids. I was expecting more hijinks with the foals running amok in her home, but she kept a tight lid on them and didn't take any of their crap. Once she gets a throne of her own, nobles better beware!

Till next time!

What I took away is that becoming an alicorn has made Twilight hungry.

Unicorn: one daisy sandwich and she is happy.

Alicorn: Multiple Quarter Pounders with Cheese. And Super Size those fries! I must consume!

I gotta ask… have ANY of these kids been to the library before? Like, seriously, the magic fucking pony princess IS RIGHT THERE! RIGHT FUCKING THERE! :raritydespair:

I just can't stay mad at Silver Spoon, she's just too cute.

Twilight chowing down on burgers was the funniest thing I've seen this week.

As I made up explained on Derpibooru, the nacho god is one of the few members of the dragon pantheon known to ponies. Spike has been his faithful servant since the events of "Dragon Quest."

Also, is it just me, or was there a sly comment about Scootaloo's fan interpretation in that one line about how she looks sad if she doesn't smile in pictures?

Given a title like "Twilight Time", I have to wonder how many foal-molestation fanfics are going to crop up based on this episode. I can already see the descriptions: "Twilight decides to give -insert CMC member here- a more hooves-on version of Twilight time."

It's nice to see that Twilight being a princess does have some effect on her life.

Fandom, never change... You neither Jake

So many dead images. D:

Also, Pip was in Putting Your Hoof Down? O.o

He ran across the background in the initial market scene.

I also thought the same thing about the possibility that they're cutie marks will be something unexpected. I go more into depth on that in my review in my blog. I also thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

Evil Cunt and Pathetic Sycophant Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon…

Of course, when they go, the Bitch Twins show off how shallow they are... while still being adorable.

I get they are bitches, but this makes them look like fucking bitches.

In my review of "Flight to the Finish", I nicknamed them Tweedle B and Tweedle C@%t. I guess I'm not the only one. :twilightsheepish:

Not sure if want to snuggle or pimp slap…

With Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, the answer is always pimp slap! :flutterrage:

I didn't notice the Fry pony. That was awesome! :pinkiehappy:

This was a great episode. I nearly freaked when I saw Sweetie doing magic.
I'm really looking forward to seeing where the writers go with the CMC.

It was on this day that I learned where I belong in this world...

...And life was good.

I honestly liked this episode. Sweetie Belle turned into a leader, which was about time since up until now it's been Applebloom and Scoots who've been calling the shots. Just one thing that made me kinda disappointed.......................... Just a small rumor about this episode that turned out to be false. ....................................................................... OH WHY COULDN'T DAVID TENNANT HAVE BEEN IN THIS?!?!?! WHY?!?!?!?! :raritycry::raritycry::raritycry::raritycry::raritycry::raritycry:

Which one you mean? The dimwitdog one? Because that totally gonna happen to become a clop fic someday for sure, I had my money that this month still there gonna be a "Twilight Time" clopfic about FutaTwi and the CMC. Just like 1863761 predicted already.^^
