Officially Don't Understand The Cosplay Meme · 6:03am Feb 22nd, 2014
Okay, thanks to Akumokagetsu's blog post, I now know where this trend started - a fic I disliked, and a response to it by a vastly more popular author that I disliked even more.
But now that roughly 50% of the front page consists of these stories, I'm beginning to ask one thing.
Why not just write a crossover?
Seriously, I was interested for a moment because it looked like someone wrote "Dr. Clef of the SCP Foundation goes to Equestria", until it turned out to just be some guy who was dressed like him.
Why would you do this?
Sending a psychopathic mad scientist/government agent with unexplained supernatural abilities, who specializes in containing or destroying beings like Discord, and who at one point practically claimed that he was literally the devil himself?
Send that bastard to Equestria. That would be amazing.
Hell, there's your plot right there. Dr. Clef needs to kill Discord because he poses an interdimensional threat to Earth, but the ponies claim Discord is reformed and should be left alone.
How is it in any way more interesting to have some totally normal guy in costume go instead?
I don't understand.
I don't understand either. And I'm still saddened at the presence of not-Axel in a fic.
Because bandwagon !
