    Quickdraw Blog. BANG!

Heya folks! This will be a quick blog, more rapid update outta necessity than witty commentary, so i'll cut straight to the chase. I've got good and bad news. The good, in my opinion, outweight the bad! But you be the judge:

Story reviews are interesting because, sure, you can use them to know if a certain book will be the right one for you? But I feel they’re more useful when the review is in itself a tool to talk about storytelling in general. You review a book, but the book is a jumping-off point to discuss what it means to have good pacing; stuff like that.

A Full Year of Only Mondays

Good morning. This is, from my point of view, a comedy blog. From the point of view of my family and loved ones, it's a horror story.

I'm so fucking back, baby. Hi, all. Did you miss me? I know I did.

Shining DONE! -- FAQ, fun facts, and author's thoughts · 9:22pm Feb 19th, 2014

Dear God, my butt hurts.

I'm not trying to make a metaphorical statement here. Neither am I trying to make a gay joke. Far from it. If my butt hurt because I had been going through a copious amount of gay sex at least I would have enjoyed it. No, the thing is that I've been sitting at my university's library for three hours, studying a book that I can't rent because apparently renting books is not what libraries do anymore. And you know what? Those wooden chairs are not comfortable. The friggin' Iron Throne is more comfortable than that thing. If Evil exists, it's a chair, AND I'VE BEEN SITTING ON IT FOR THREE HOURS.

Seriously, I can't feel my buttocks yet my nether region hurts. How is that even possible?

Anyway, as I promised, here’s the first “in-depth” blog about the bunch of stories I posted. This is the most popular one by far, and also apparently this is a thing now. I’m flattered. I’m also a little weirded out and pretty scared. Mostly flattered, though.

So. Shining DONE!. The last installment of the DONE! Series, which started popular and it’s slowly becoming more and more unpopular. Because, well, nothing is ever going to be as good as Daring DONE!, which has been liked by a bunch of guys I really admire. Everything else is a letdown. Still, I can try!

Now, my intention here was to write a bunch of words about the story and call it a day… But I’ve got so many questions via comments and private messages (feel free to send one if you want to, by the way) that I thought “screw it, I’m just answering that and calling it a day”.

So, here you go!

I’m pretty sure Daring Do is the real author/Didn’t S4 show that A. K. Yearing is the real author?

Yes. Daring DONE! was written before that and the sequels follow that particular fanon (which is based on speculation from the comics, by the way). Hence the AU tag. I might be a little dumb sometimes, but I’m not that stupid.

Who is the next pony to be DONE!/Who is going to be the next protagonist?

I have no idea. Neither will you till the story is posted, unless you’re a proofreader.
If I feel like following the Sparkle family theme, then I guess it’s going to be either Spike or Night Light. But I’m not writing anything unless I get struck by inspiration, so as far as I know I might write Pinkie DONE! or Frackle DONE! or God knows what. I can’t promise anything.

If only Discord could see this…/Where is Discord in this story?/Why didn’t they ask Discord for help?

I prepared a witty answer to this question a long time ago (it’s been showing up since Daring DONE!) in which I said that Discord doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that writes letters, and then something about the incredible size of my dick.

But then along came Three’s a Crowd and that answer went straight to hell because yes, Discord writes letters. To Fluttershy, of course.

So now the answer is different, albeit a little more honest: I find Discord to be an incredible character, but he’s also surprisingly hard to write, and almost impossible to write well in epistolary form and make it funny. I don’t think his presence would add anything to the stories, either. And I never stopped to think that the characters would ask Discord for help, to be honest.

If for some reason I feel like writing Discord, or I realize that a story needs Discord or else it doesn’t make sense, I’ll add him. Till then, I’m not using the character because it’s unnecessary. Everypony is already dumb, they don’t need the God Of Chaos messing up the place a little more.

My penis’ size is still incredible, though.

Why is everypony so dumb?/Oh God, they’re so idiotic.

Yes, they are. It’s easy to write dumb characters. You just need to drink a lot of bleach before sitting in front of your computer!

Is this a TwiDash?

I… honestly can’t understand this question. True, it only popped up in Daring DONE!, but it still baffles me because holy cow, guys, if there’s really any romantic subtext in that story then I’m mirroring Twilight Velvet pretty well because I HAD NO IDEA.

So no. No kisses here. Just comedy.

Is this based on the comics?

No one ever asked me this, but shut up, this is my blog and I write what I want. But yes, the DONE! series is based on the comics, more or less. That’s why Shining Armor is such a moron – he might be intelligent, in some twisted way (book smart, I call him), but he’s a moron. And I love him for that.

I also got part of Luna’s characterization (not a lot is shown in the actual story, sadly) from the comics, too. Go read the Luna comic if you haven’t already.

NIGHT LIGHT!!!1!!!

That’s… That’s not a question. Eh.

Anyway, Night Light is a pretty popular character, which is kind of funny for a lot of reasons. I’ve grown to like him, too. I remember when in Daring DONE!’s comments people said that with a family composed of an alicorn princess, a prince, a best-seller author, and Night Light, he was kind of… Too normal.

Heh.

He’s quite the character, isn’t he? I sometimes hate him, and sometimes love him. He feels like cheating, y’know? When in doubt, use Night Light. People love him anyway.

Is there going to be an epilogue for Shining DONE!?

Yes, but wait for it. I’m pretty busy at the moment.

When is the next installment of the series going out?

Absolutely no idea. Probably before 2030.

How can you write stories so incredibly funny?/This was the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time/YOU’RE A COMEDIC GENIUS/Son, stop asking me to read this. It’s in English. I can’t read English.

I ate a clown’s heart when I was five and I absorbed his comedy powers. I also gained the ability to traumatize children forever and look hella fine in white make-up.

Hella fine.

And… that’s it. Unless you have another question about the story or its universe, I will stop here, because I’m already over 1000 words and I think that’s enough.

Also, there might be a crossover in the works. Between two stories of mine, I mean. No promises, though.

I got another question: Will we see more of that dragon?? In any way, I mean. Spin-off, future stories, whatever. Best character second only to Night Light.

I think this blogpost should be added to your 'verse under the heading Aragon DONE!

He will appear in the epilogue, but I don't know about the next story.

I might write a spin-off about him and Night Light living adventures at some point (without tagging it as a part of the DONE! series because I'm evil) although it's going to be hard, because their chemistry only works if there's a normal character there.

I guess that they can go and save Manehattan from certain doom, though. That could be funny. Starrying Coco Pommel and Sapphire Shoes.

This blog post made me laugh, which isn't normal. Or I'm just really happy that it's actually nice outside. 60 degrees!

Probably before 2030

New goal in life. Survive until 2030 to see the new done story.

Hella fine

Pics or I don't believe it! :pinkiehappy:

Night Light DONE!?
HA!
That will be a 30k word story.

"Sapphire Shoes"
lol. That should be 'Shores's lesser known sister.

When is the next installment of the series going out?

Absolutely no idea. Probably before 2030.

Still earlier than Half-Life 3.
