'Demon Slayer' Comic Book Update: Final Character Page · 12:21am Feb 12th, 2014

Starbat has released the third and final sheet of G1 pony character designs, which you can gape at in wonder by clicking right here.

This is my favorite page out of all of them. Starbat has done a great job altering the G1 characters to make them look conceivably like the ancestors of the G4 ponies, and he's also done fantastic work at giving them individual appearances. He has found an impressive number of ways to style a pony's mane.

Pictured above is his interpretation of G1 Twilight, an important character in A Mighty Demon Slayer Grooms Some Ponies, a character so mysterious and enigmatic that she can't shut up and stop explaining everything. To make it easier to tell her apart from G4's Twilight Sparkle, Starbat has wisely given her the full name Twilight Mist, a moniker first invented by Al-1701 in his Equestria Nova. Al-1701 is also, you may recall, the author of the alternate version of Demon Slayer's seventh chapter (spoilers).

As I understand, the next page in this series should be the first page of the comic.

G1 Twilight: The only thing she produced more than magic was exposition.

Also, I'm astonished at how expressive Starbat made Sweet Stuff's eyes. Unliving crystal has no right being so soulful.

As awesome as this comic will be, I hope you're not gonna hold onto the revised ending until it reaches the end of chapter 7...

Hiya. Thanks again for the feature. I'm glad it is well received. ^^

Slight correction though. This is not actually the "last" of the pony sheets I intend to do. Far from it. I daresay, they will almost become a side project on their own at this rate.

I simply meant that this will be the last G1 pony sheet for the next good while, as I now intend to focus on the comic proper, now that the human sheets are done. My plan is to get out a chapter or two before putting out the next character sheet. The G1 ponies don't appear until chapter four anyway. It's just my way of pacing myself.

So yes, my next big project will be page one of chapter one. (and about time too....)

I notice that the TV Tropes page mentions an eighth chapter that evidently didn't go over well. Could someone summarize it for me?

I know zilch about earlier iterations of MLP, but these do look great!

The eighth chapter was controversial because I brought in a plot twist many were not expecting: I had Flash Sentry fly in across the Rainbow Bridge and join the others at the horse show. But because Flash and Twilight were so busy making out, Twilight missed her events, thereby causing an interdimensional and international fiasco.

Readers said this was out-of-character, because the canonical Flash is not such a sloppy kisser.

1825383 That's not what the TV Tropes page says.

You can't believe everything you read on the Internet, I'm afraid.

1825508 I can barely believe most of your blog posts.

1825383 Really? That's it? I missed Chapter 8 because a few people were suprised by a make-out scene?!
WTF?!?!
