Writer's block sucks · 12:50am Feb 6th, 2014
Seriously. Over the course of the past week I barely wrote so much as a paragraph in The Marvelous Misadventures of Shining Armor and the CMC. This was partly because I had come to a bit of a roadblock in my writing. I had written a few paragraphs and everything seemed fine, but when I went to write the next sentence, I just couldn't think of anything that didn't sound like complete crap. Not only that but I was having trouble picking which tense to write it in (past tense seemed the best, but it felt a little awkward when I tried to transition back to present tense, and present tense didn't work because it was too rushed). Now I can get discouraged pretty easily, so I didn't really try working on it all that much until today when I finally gave in and decided to completely rewrite the entire scene over again (luckily it wasn't that much). I'm definitely happier with how it looks now; the scene makes a lot more sense, and it's a lot easier to carry on from the spot where I had run into trouble.
Another cause of my writer's block was the fact that I recently started reading A Game of Thrones. Now I don't know how many of you have read that story, but let me tell you, it is very (and I mean very) hard to put that book down. I haven't finished reading it yet, but I'm already considering going back to the bookstore this weekend to pick up the rest of the A Song of Ice and Fire series. It's that good.
So yeah, I've made some pretty good headway in my writing today, so I think I'm gonna reward myself with a bit of reading. Thank you everyone for your patience. I'll see you all on the other side.
I wish I could help, but I don't get writer's block. I get writer's doesn't-have-time-to-write-for-days-at-a-time-so-doesn't-have-time-to-get-writer's block.
We've all hit some form of writers block before. The thing is, it's just a fancy way of your mind trying to tell you that you have other interests. It's only the truth.
Yeah that's where I am in Super Pony Wars Sigma
1800799 Yeah. It's a very awkward feeling though. Another part of it is that I have a bit of a stubborn brain. I'll write something that I think is good, but then I find that I can't go anywhere with it, and it takes a lot of me convincing myself that the only way that I can move forward is by going back and completely rewriting what I already had. It is a very satisfying feeling, though, when I finally come back and just start writing again.
1800893 Man, atm I'm being piled down with alot of thoughts to even finish the last few paragraphs for my next chapter. It's been like two weeks since I've even written anything, and the stupid thing is it's like 99.1 percent done
I'm combatting writers block myself now that I have a viable writing laptop again by doing OMAKI broken 4th wall behind-the-scenes with the "actors" or "just because" scenes that will never appear in the canon story. -such as the missing crew from Gulliver's Last Travel ending up landing in EQG; Spring Break
