There are groups dedicated to just about everything on FimFiction nowadays. There are those who seek to "love and tolerate" and are shunned by the general population because they think that idea has become taboo or cliché.
It's unfortunate that even on a place where we are supposed to congregate, share ideas, and become better writers in general, some are still faced with such adversity. I have met a few good people, people who think that they can be a change, and I think they can too. Sometimes, they might be afraid about what others think of them. Perhaps they will receive the same hate as well and they just simply wish to remain neutral in the grand scheme of things.
But these people inspire me, the ones who want to be the white knight and help all. Is that not what we are here to do? Succeed, become better, and help our fellow writers and readers? I might not be the most popular guy myself, but I always try to improve, and if there is a slim chance that I can help someone, I try to take it. However, I can not do it alone. There is too much negativity to overcome.
That is why, eventually, if I gather a strong enough following, I will form a group of Knights who still believe that everyone deserves a chance, and no silly idea or jumbled sentence or incorrectly spelled word deserves a heated barrage of hate speech. Why the FUCK do we have to be so negative? We're supposed to be better than this, people. Too many writers have simply given up because they can't take the backlash (luckily I'm not one of them), and now they no longer contribute anything. We won't hold people responsible, but it has to change.
I sincerely hope that when I form my group, people will follow my example and not be afraid to step away from the "I'm only here for myself" mentality that has seemed to afflict everyone lately. One day soon, I hope my Knights will change FimFiction for the better, so that even trolls who hate ponies and everything related to them can genuinely respect our ideals and our community as a whole. Why can't we impress even non-bronies? That is my dream.
We may not necessarily "love and tolerate" everyone, but we will help our fellow man, as corny as that sounds.
It is a reachable goal, I think.
We will lead, teach, improve, and give our guidance as best we can, because in the end that's all our community should really try to achieve.
My question is... will you follow me when the time comes? Will you be a part of the change Fimfiction needs? Will you improve those around you with only your presence?
I know I will try.
