It's disconcerting to me how different the featured box looks with and without the mature filter. A million Fallout: Equestria spin-offs and done-to-death "brony in Equestria" stories? A badly-written ego trip about Button Mash and pregnant Sweetie Belle? Understandable! Switch on the content filter, and suddenly, half the box is all about Spike discovering his sexuality.

"Uh-oh! Spike just found out that not only does he have both male and female sex organs, but Dr. Whooves has become obsessed with impregnating him! Can Twilight Sparkle resist her burning draconian passion for Spike long enough to remove his genitals and save him from becoming a fathermother?"

^Not an actual example, but in the same spirit.

I think I decided to switch off the content filter for good after noticing the troublingly high number of stories focused on the CMC. At least the ones I saw this time featured consenting adults. Mostly. There were a few with Spike in them, but if Paleowriter is to be believed, Spike can be at the age of consent at will, so it's whatever.

I had it off pretty much after my first couple of weeks after joining. I read a story called Beating the Heat (it was marked as Teen at the time, but now it's marked Mature) that was just... awkward. Like, a frothing discomfort in my stomach from reading it. It had a shit-load of upvotes, so I pressed on reading it because I was under the (foolish) impression that I could understand this shiny new fan base a little better by understanding this story. I'm not so blind as to say that mature stories are 100% 'porn without plot', but a great majority are. I feel like, most times, I'm just watching some fantasy the person next door could be having, which is just not worth the subconscious 'wat' factor. And, speaking practically, there are better vehicles for the purpose clop is intended, better for me at least. So, I don't ever have it off. For many, it's the principle behind the load of mature stories one finds front-page, but I've been on the internet long enough to just live and let live.

Also, I think Spike is 12 at the present, no matter what form he takes. If his greed growth counts as aging, I feel sorry for his dance partner, and offer unto them a really cushy pillow. And maybe a lawyer or two.

Sex is sex. WoG and common sense say ponies have sex to make babies. Being mamals they doubtlessly do it for pleasure too. Ponies, as characters, are viewed as people by the majority. So it stands to reason that the intrest in pony sex would be as high as the interest in sex between characters of any other fandom. Also there are a lot of people into the idea of sex with non-human sapients. Star Trek and Mass Effect and sci-fi and fantasy books are full of sex between human and non-human, or even non-humanoid partners. Not to mention that people find the act of sex facinating, regardless of the potential for them to participate. Hence all the Nature Porn out there.

I mean... the very existance of the furry fandom should make it clear that of course pony porn is a thing.

I mean I think the vast majority of it is stupid, often comprised of extreme and disturbing fetishes, poorly written, and far more popular than it has any right to be. But it does not surprise me one bit.
