Rest in Peace, Justin "Jew Wario" Carmical · 2:20am Jan 27th, 2014
If you've been reading my blogs for some time now, you would know that I'm a fan of the Nostalgia Critic and many of the other contributors of ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com. Today, I learned the depressing and sad news that former TGWTG contributor Justin "Jew Wario" Carmical took his own life on the night of Thursday, January 23, 2014.
Now, I'm not going to lie and say that I was a full-fledged fan of his work. I haven't even watched his main series You Can Play This and only really know of him through the TGWTG anniversary movies and a few episodes of WTFIWWY (What the F*ck is Wrong with You), a web series where TGWTG contributors Nash and Tara give their thoughts about weird and crazy news stories from all across the web. In fact, yesterday, I saw the newest WTFIWWY episode, which featured Jew Wario (who was filling in for Tara). The segment was filmed live last Monday, three days before Jew Wario's passing.
Even though I wasn't a full fan of his, I still feel sad from his passing. From what I saw of him, he seemed like a very upbeat and entertaining guy. I can't even begin to imagine what could have been troubling him so much to the point of him committing this act and I send out my most sincere condolences to his family, fans, and friends, especially his wife Jenny Valentine (who was talking to him through a locked bathroom door when he took his life). I sincerely hope that she has plenty of family and friends to get her through this painful time.
So rest in peace, Justin. From what I've seen and read about you, you touched the hearts of many and knew how to make anyone feel happy. I wish events in your life could have played out differently so that you wouldn't have come to this horrible conclusion but what's done is done. I hope you've found happiness on the other side. You will be sorely missed and remembered by many.
I'm about as much a fan as you were (the Anniversary movies, a few WTFIWWY episodes, plus his Pokemon movie reviews with Suede and Linkara), and this was still a huge shock.
Rest in peace Justin
As a fan of YCPT, Scan This, and his sadly short lived Kamen Reviewer series, this comes as a big shock. He always seemed so happy, energetic, and eager to talk about his hobbies. That a guy that always seemed so happy could just up and commit suicide is...really depressing and a little unnerving. Even looking back at his older videos, there never seemed to be any warning signs. For his fans, this really came out of nowhere.
I only watched a few of his videos, but I really enjoyed his work. Watching his him, I always thoughts him as a nice guy who gave it his all and loved what he was doing. Words cannot express how shocked and sad am I at this tragedy.
Rest in peace Justin Carmical.
This blog DID NOT age well, oh my God. XD
