So. Three weeks later and I'm still going over this fanfic I'm working on. It's part of the usual story universe but at the same time, it's my first major foray into Doctor Whooves/Who and I think I need to heavily edit this first draft. Spending all of this time on the first draft in between classes makes me think that I might just need to start the draft all over again, and start a second draft.
Where to begin with the problems in this writing. Too much End of Time/Day of the Doctor references, particularly too heavily referencing it. I realized this when I was finishing up the first draft that anyone who hasn't seen these episodes would get lost fairly easily.
Secondly I wasn't thrilled with how I handled Derpy and Ten and not to mention Ten was actually behaving more like Eleven. I blame this mostly on the fact that throughout winter break I watched far too much Eleven and I don't have a good solid Ten voice. Put into the fact that I also have War Doctor in this mess, as well as Eight, Nine and potentially Five, well...
Lets just say there's a reason why I rewrite entire stories from the ground up. I don't think this fic will actually go under its own heading, possibly under the Somepony chronicles, just to add to that. And I feel dumb for adding too many one-shots anyhow.
That being said, I'm still taking a lot of time to rewrite this fic, adjusting things, sending it to pre-readers and editors, and then getting big old rejection stamps on it to make certain I'm doing this properly. And as a result, I'm doing better for it. I do have another fic in the pipeline and I need to finish Resurrection but meh, that'll come later.
