Cover Pic for Twifly II · 7:52pm Jan 25th, 2014
Hi Everyone!
So, I was just wondering something here. Do you think the cover pic might be dissuading people from reading this fic? I'd like to think that this story is more of a drama with horror elements, and I'm wondering if people see the cover pic, read the description, and automatically assume that this story isn't worth reading because it's just mindless gore. That being said, are there any artists out there who want to come up with a pic for this story? Again, this is just something I'm wondering. Any opinions?
Also, working on the next chapter, and I'm almost ready to send it to my pre-reader, so stay tuned!

cant wait for the next chapter ps the only idea i think of for a pic is of the twifly itself i dont see why ire is an issue ow well sometimes im not in the mood for gore so i guess thats why
While I think it's an awesome picture personally, I can certainly see why a lot of people might be put off by it. I've made it clear in many of my comments on various parts of this fic that I find it to be rich in well-utilized story content, and that it maintains excellent interpretations of the show characters and how they might react given situations like what has been presented in this story.
Of course, people who haven't read the story can't know these things. And unfortunately today many of us live in a society where too often others tend to judge a book by it's cover (no pun intended). So naturally I'm sure there are, have been, and will continue to be people who will miss out on this great story because they find the cover image disturbing.
Do I think that you should change the image? Well, I don't really know and I honestly think it's up to you, though I think that by judging the actual number of people who have turned this story down would be a good thing to factor in before you make your final decision. Unfortunately though, I don't think we can really know just how many have decided to do that, so that basically makes the final decision a toss-up, it would seem.
I will say though that I did find the original image for this story (a picture of two flies just resting on a surface some random distance away from each other) unusually fitting as well; it just had some really eerie and disturbing feel to it that you really couldn't put a handle on, and I think that went along quite well with the element of the story itself.
So there's my two cents, I suppose. In the end I think you could go either way. The decision is entirely up to you. Rest assured that whatever you decide to do about the cover image, it's certainly not going to affect my viewership of this story.

1757796 Thanks. My thinking is very much along your lines as well. While I may love the pic, I see where others may not. It was fine when I wasn't getting into the features box, but now that I am, I'd like something that will attract some more positive attention if I get back in it when I post the next chapter. Maybe you're right. That "2-fy" image I believe was an image for "The Fly II" so I thought it was fitting as well. I'll look online, but I thing you're right, I may go back to that. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.
Ah, yes. It's understandable how people would immediately be put off. They would see the cover picture, maybe skim over the summary a bit, and just move on due to the story not being their cup of tea.
As for actually changing the cover art? I have no idea. I'm definitely no artist, and I don't have many connections...
But I did have an idea a while back. Would you happen to be proficient with photoshop in any way? 'Cuz, in Twifly 1, I was thinking that you could take the original movie cover of The Fly and just photoshop Twilight's hoof in place of the arm, then mess around with the title to make it say Twifly.
Now, I know it's a bit too late to change Twifly 1, but I suppose you could use The Fly 2's cover. Instead of the kid, you could show a silhouette of Twilight, change the title to Twifly 2, and perhaps change the "Like father like son" mantra to something like "Be careful what you wish for", or some other cliche along those lines. Maybe even change the starring cast's names to the names of the Mane Six, princesses, and side characters.
... But that's just what I think, anyway. Sorry if it's kind of a terrible idea.
Anywho, good luck with the story and cover art! I'll be silently rooting for ya, like always!
Can somebody make a picture of a sad Twifly crying maybe that would work and as for myself I don't have any issues with the current picture of Twifly
