A Thought-Provoking Blog Post and a New Story Announcement · 6:23pm Jan 24th, 2014
I read this blog post from JustAnotherTimeLord, and it really got me thinking. I had no idea that two of the most popular authors on the site joined merely three months before I did (and that a few people in the top 50 joined after me).
He claims they became popular because they wrote a lot, and that got me wondering. What if I had written at the pace I started with, when I was writing a chapter of Filly Fooling a day? Would I be on that list of top 50?
Hard to say. I don't want to brag, but I certainly hit the ground running when it came to story views. Filly Fooling remains my most viewed story on the site, but the uploads came further and further apart, including a hiatus I took for a few months due to burnout. My other big story, Cuddling, was also pretty popular, but then my writing really tapered off until Spread came around.
With the slew of new authors that have come since I joined the site in May 2012, I feel it's harder than ever to get a story noticed, and that I might have hit my peak. But that leads into this announcement of a new story, an ambitious work that I want to become the best story I've ever written.
I won't spoil what it's about, but I've got two very talented authors editing it (here and here), and I have to say I'm more satisfied with my writing of this story than I ever have been with any other story. Once they've finished looking it over, I will be submitting. I don't want to commit myself to a date yet, but I am estimating it will be out by the end of the weekend if all goes well. If not, I will definitely do a blog post when the story's released so you can take a look.
Anyway, even though the blog post is about popularity, I have to say I'm very pleased with where I stand now. I have 365 more followers than I ever expected on this site, and I am grateful for each and every one of you. I have not always written well enough to deserve these followers, but I am glad you've stuck around for the ride, and I hope you continue to enjoy my work.
(Side Note: Since this post talks about Filly Fooling quite extensively, I'm going to tag that story. Hope the mods are okay with it.)
The mods are onto you, buddy,

A blog mention? I'm a Time Lord and what is this?
1756202 Your blog got me thinking, so there you go.
Just remember "Quality over Quantity". Now I'm not saying those that post a lot are posting bad stories. What I'm saying is that an author should write in the style/method/schedule s/he is most comfortable with. For some this is every week, others not so much. But the most comfortable you are with your writing, the most likely you are to write your best. Ultimately, only the author can know how to write his/her best.
1757063 Thanks for the concern. Like I said, I'm not committed to this schedule, so I will take my time if needed to make sure it's good.
