So I was watching Rainbow Falls and saw the rainbow power box key when I realized that this was probably how everyone was going to get their key, by not conforming to their element, having shit happen to them and coming to the realization that their friends and their said element are important and then they would be given a key by a non-Mane 6 cast member whom was inspired by said character's devotion to said element. That when I started thinking about Fluttershy.
See, the thing with Fluttershy is that, she, out of all the Mane 6, has the least amount of reason to act out of her element and continue the approach that has been set up. (Note: about the key gathering , I'm only going off two points and as a engineer I know one should have multiple data point before drawing a conclusion).
So I figured the writing staff might try something different with Fluttershy and here what I came up with for her.
1) Have her get her key in a flashback.
This would be a decent way of giving her her key without her acting out of character as it would have happened before she became who she is now. It would most likely be about how do onto others as you would do unto yourself sort of message and the character she got the key from could appear in the episode in order to set of the flashbacks of how the two know each other. This also would explain why Fluttershy was immune to Discord's Discordification in the Season 2 preimer, by already unlocking the power/understanding of the power that will replace the Elements of Harmony.
Why this won't happen: Mainly because she's not going to realize how important her friends in Ponyville are, which won't conform to the pattern. Also because it's been somewhat established (there is some wiggle room) that Fluttershy's been the way she's been since always.
Likelihood of happening: the same as the BBC recovering Fury from the Deep in Africa. (ie a place it was never sold to)
2) Have her key be Discord.
Okay so this one is an odd favorite of mine and NEVER EVER GOING TO HAPPEN IN ALL OF FOREVER. Why Discord? Well in KCAFO Fluttershy showed kindness to Discord and it caused him to be good (or at least chaotic neutral) and would show the benefits of kindness, in that understanding and compassion can lead to friendship. This would really work because it would be about how kindness works and it would use elements of the previous season and make a relatively one shot episode have extreme importance in the season long plot. In other words, this story ,KCAFO, would take on additional meaning when viewing it with the knowledge of season 4 and it would feel more realistic in that an event thought unrelated to the overall plot becomes part of the bigger picture without us, the audience, and the Mane 6 realizing until later on.
Why this won't happen: Because Discord. I don't know what the writers plan for him is, but they seem to not want to stick with the idea that Discord is reformed, so it's more likely that he'll end up being the villain this season than being a key to the box, because why give us a new villain when you can rewrite my favorite episode to make it to make it completely pointless (actually worse than pointless if they followed though with this).
Chances of happening: Jupiter and (1 divided by) Beyond the Infinite
Story Update: Finished writing the next chapter of EQ:EOD but want to look over it and work on the next chapter before releasing it. Also I wrote a new story.
(Note: I still believe Discord should be chaotic and not as morally uptight as the Mane 6, but he should more so act like Q did during the last couple of season of ST:TNG where he was still kind of aggravating to the crew but ultimately a good guy that had a odd sort of respect for Picard and humanity. I really didn't get a feel for that, save for his interaction with Fluttershy in episode 2, in the Season 4 premier).
Well, the only flaw with this is that they aren't acting out of their element and then getting a key. They are acting their element and teaching others about their element. Rarity taught Coco Pemmel about generosity and Rainbow Dash taught Spitfire about loyalty.

Rarity had a brush with selfishness when she was ranting at her friends, and Dash really wanted to fly with Wonderbolts for Cloudsdale.
It was more of a corruption of their elements than losing sight of them. Rarity was "generous" and Dash was likely to have abandoned a failed team. Fluttershy will likely have an episode that either forces her into a situation where her kindness is a hindrance to her, or her reamaining stalwart in her devotion to being kind to all in spite of great criticis... wait, no they already did that when they "reformed" Discord.
Perhaps hers involves another antagonist learning the value of kindness.
Or she bridges the gap between ponies and changelings. That would be cool.

Discord is "reformed" as in he learned how to compromise, not that he's a model citizen. Far from it. Also that friends are worth having. And that Fluttershy is the mistress of the guilt trip.

That would make sense, yeah. What I think they are doing is trying to make the pony represent the Element instead of the converse. I have been tired of them saying, "I'm the Element of PAFAUI! I am omnipotent!"
Fluttershy's key will be interesting...
I really hope they're going to include her "bat-powers" in to the episode too somehow.
