Episode reviews and the slightest delay · 9:51pm Jan 19th, 2014
Well first off, sorry there was no chapter this weekend. I’m going through some personal issues and all that good jazz so maybe midweek instead. Now to the episodes!
Rarity takes on Manehatten is Rarities season obliged episode. Sweet and Elite in my opinion is one of my favourite episodes of My Little Pony so I’m disappointed to say this one didn’t beat that but still doesn’t mean this one wasn’t good.
In fact I like this episode besides one or two points.
Twilight is as useless as ever. She is the leader of an entire nation and she can’t even get a cab. Wow Royalty must more common than I thought if they are treated with this much contempt. In fact this has been a reoccurring problem this season. Almost as if the writers really don’t want to show Twilight as a princess. It’s getting really irritating.
Is Rarity still struggling to come to terms with her ambitions while also treating her friend’s right? I thought Sweet and Elite dealt with that. Also the song in this episode is worse than becoming popular. I didn’t really like it. Yes Rarity. I get it. You’re generous but would please for Celestia’s sake give Spike a break! Poor kid’s lifting a good 100 pounds there.
Also generosity apparently doesn’t apply when you want to steal hotel appliances for you fashion show. Yes she was most generous indeed in running her sweatshop including her friends. All I could think of was where was Pablo in all that?
Coco and Suri are awesome. I mean this season has just been great for new characters. Coco is adorable.
Also Cliffhangers. Cliff-hangers everywhere.
Then we have the episode that almost killed ApplePie as a ship (not that them being cousins would stop anyone on this site anyway).
This episode was a noticeable improvement over the last. A lot of feel good factors in this one. Good song. Good pace. Good characterisation. Good lesson. Creepy Cat pony. A cave of horrors in the middle of a river (because Equestria’s government likes to sweep those things under the rug). So overall a really nice episode. Didn’t have a lot of weight to it but that wasn’t what they were going for.
Oh and the lesson of the story is that young children should not be entrusted with maps. Because you know they’re stupid or something.
Finally we get Rainbow Dash gets her key to the box-I mean the Equestria games qualifier episode. Well I’ve got only one thing to say about this episode….
I friggen loved every minute of it.
I had liked the stupidest grin on my face the entire time. We got Derpy who if you are dillegent enough you should be able to spot. We got a cannon name for Snowflake. We got Pinkie Pie as a cheerleader. We got more Soarin and a nice lesson to boot it all off.
Well the story is simple. Dash wants Ponyville to qualify but her team sucks and she wants to train with Cloudsdale. Suddenly Soarin gets injured in practice checking out some cheerleader booty and Dash trains in secret with Cloudsdale. Twilight being the wise and mighty being she is learns of this betrayal follows what her mentor would do and does nothing. Dash is then face with a choice. So she obviously picks the winners and everypony is shattered in Ponyville and then an atom bomb goes off and…
Okay that’s not what happens but suffice to say to it was a good episode. Seriously check it out if not for Derpy alone.
Until next time.
