    I'm (still) not quite dead...

I'm sorry, I am so very sorry for the lack of updates on, well, anything. A few of you have probably noticed that I've still been putting in the occasional appearance or comment, but as for chapter updates...yeah I've barely written anything for months for various reasons - work sucks, arranging a couple vacations, a falling out in my D&D group of 14 years, and just a sort of malaise that

    When you're writing a chapter...

And listening to music to keep yourself in the mood, and then you hear a song that has you suddenly realize that you've been writing the entire chapter wrong and should have instead been basing it around the song - not necessarily using the song directly (especially since that would be against site rules concerning wholesale copying of lyrics), but certainly drawing on it for inspiration.

The Good News and the Bad News

The good news is that I got a root canal on Monday. No more pain in teeth. Yay!

The bad news is that I was 3/4ths of the way through the next chapter of Midnight Castle (~5000 words) and realized that I was writing it totally wrong. I need to go back to practically the start and change up a lot, though I'm salvaging lines and paragraphs wherever I can.

Every time I sit down to work on Tambelon, I let myself get distracted by something!

This is horrible. I've more-or-less known exactly how this chapter and all subsequent chapters are supposed to go for months and months now, yet for some reason I keep dragging my heels! I'm barely 2,000 words into the current chapter!

Urgh. Sorry, just general complaining. I seem to be suffering from a chronic lack of motivation recently, for no discernible reason. I'd like to maybe not spend the entirety of Season 4 working on one story, but it's looking like that might be the case if I can't get up off my ass and write damnit.

If you take out the word "Tambelon" and insert "anything" you have the story of my life.

Double, do this. Get a pair of headphonse, get on youtube on a 2nd tab. Listen to a randome playlist. Type the story. That is what i do when i need to concentrate on somthing. Ingor the world and do what i need to. Sadly i get short tearm memory loss,so it sucks when i forget what i was doing.

Welcome to my horrible life.

But on the other hand, DERPY'S BACK! In an otherwise subpar episode! That I would have reviewed by now of I wasn't stuck at work typing this on a cell phone!

Oh God kill me!

Yeah, see...that's exactly what I do. But then I think to myself something along the lines of, "hey, I could be looking at cat videos right now!" or "huh, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle - I don't know enough about that!"

Or something. The point is that there has been no particular change to my life that should have caused that. I'm not busier than I used to be or anything, I'm just...unmotivated. I cannot even begin to imagine why.

Subpar, yeah, but...acceptable. It wasn't terrible, and it basically confirms that "keys" thing, which is nice.

And yeah, Derpy's back! Yay!

I'd say itwas pretty bad. As for motivation, Huey Lewis and the News. Great motivator for me.

Completely understandable. Had the same problem a couple of times myself.:twilightsheepish: Might be best to just take a break and work on a fun short story that WILL get you motivated.:pinkiehappy:

1731871 listen to bodil40 than. he give ironic insperation. its accualy verry helpful.

1731858 Ditto. It's been literally over a year since I've updated one of my stories. :applejackunsure:

I know the feeling. I've been having to browbeat myself into writing lately. I blame the season. We're over the hump of winter, but the days are still short, which always leaves me feeling sluggish.

I know what this is like, I currently have 1 on going story and two I've been trying to work on, yet I either lack the will to writer or get distracted when I don't.
