You all know what I speak of. DJPON3 from FoE as GNR from FO. Redeye's radio as Enclave radio. The numerous radio stations in PH as the numerous radio stations in FO:NV. All of them served a purpose. All of them either provided music, or useful news, even biased opinions on local happenings.
Well, I've decided to create my own radio station for my story. Something to be there for the rest of it, you know? Something akin to how Littlepip would always just turn her pipbuck on and listen (of course Goldwreath doesn't have a pipbuck, so I'll have to find a way to rectify that O_O). Now, I'm saying all this because first off:
I don't quite know how to write radio stations. I mean, I could just write it as paragraphs in italic, but when it comes to writing the structure is often not quite as important as the manner of writing. Therefore I ask for some advice from people who believe they can help. Secondly:
I'd really like to know what people would expect when they hear that a radio station is up for the first time. Also, if the DJ's new and stuff. I'm really not privy to such knowledge, so any advice whatsoever would be helpful. Thanks!
I will admit. Radio stations are... Cornfusing. I based my FoE off the number station pasta and now I'm learning horse code (get it XD)
Italics does sound possible but I'm afraid I still don't get your story idea :(
Well, what is the personality of the station itself? Is it a serious news station, or is it supposed to be more lackadaisical?
In one of my collabs I'm going to include the Neighly Show and the Coltbert Report. Why? Because they're funny.
That's a good idea. VLP has got New Pegasus Radio as well. It helps develop the story.
I'd agree that a radio station specifically to your story would help quite a bit, from what I can remember you used DJPON3 often in your previous run through, but that loses a bit of it's personality being so far away from the story.
Perhaps have a radio station have been set up somewhere that is independent of DJPON3, reporting on events in the area, but then also is in 'correspondence' with PON3 (I mean they listen to her news broadcasts and uses some of the information).
I don't know why, but I get a feeling if you do this there should be many reports of PON3 being slightly crazy about Toaster Repair-ponies.

1731136 Thank you all for your approval! Unfortunately it doesn't quite answer my question: How would you put that into the story? How would you write it, and how frequently would you put it in? Stuff like that. I need advice.

Hmm, off the top of my head. Maybe the group could save a pony and say something like,
"Tell everypony in Roam that they have a protector now. Spread the news to all Raiders and slavers that their days are numbered."
And maybe one of the ponies could have taken that literally.
Kinda cheesy and its off the top of my head but maybe it will give you an idea
EDIT: Put it in periodically. kinda like DJ-PON3 in the original. If you make the host kinda eccentric a conversation between him and Homage would be pretty funny.
