    Chapter II: Awaken (The Aftermath)

Well, here it is. The second (technically third?) chapter of You Are (Not) a Slave has come out, entitled "Awaken". The Author's Note puts it best: it felt like a hell of a long time writing this chapter, especially since I did most of it today in about 3 or 4 hours. I think I deserve a P3P break.
Especially considering finals are a thing.

    An Update

So, it has come to my attention that YouTube is now offering a subscription service called YouTube RED (what an unfortunate name). It's about $10 a month for ad-free YouTube, and if you don't have it, for some reason, some videos will be blocked.
Now, what does this have to do with YA(N)AS?

    I'm Back, Bitches!

    And I'm here to stay!
    Hopefully.

I just posted a new chapter of You Are (Not) A Slave today as my welcome back to me gift, so go read that! There's also important info in the author's notes, so check that!
I hope I can focus my work on this one fic until I finish it for you guys. I'm always excited for my fics, but I think this is a chart topper for excitement.

Behind The Story: Crossfire · 12:36am Jan 9th, 2014

The idea for Crossfire came to me while I was writing another fic that was called Crossfire then, but has since had it's name changed. I liked the idea of writing about humanized ponies because it gave me a key tool that ponies didn't: fingers. With fingers, anyone could do anything, no matter if they were originally Earth ponies, Pegasi, or unicorns. With ponies, the only real race that could hold an object without having to put it in their mouths were unicorns. I mean, there's a reason people put guns in their mouths to commit suicide.

And now I'm left with half of the readers angry because I mentioned people killing themselves as they have friends/family who have or tried to kill themselves that way when I was really trying to make a point that they shouldn't be put in mouths. Moving on.

My only experience with Western-type media are the shows Firefly and Trigun, the latter being an influence in making the Equestrian Desert. However, I felt like I wanted to make a more modern form of a Western to show that there was an advanced civilization before there was a desert. That's why there's more than shotguns and revolvers – there's also modern pistols and grenade launchers, too. Of course, I didn't get to showcase the grenade launchers in Crossfire, but I hope you guys are left wanting more so you can see!

Another thing I took from – in a major way, too – was the idea of Sirens being women who could control magic. Now, I can tell that at least one of you are thinking, "But [insert my current FiMFic name here], isn't that misogynous to have the males really likely to have magic, but not the women, which in turn gives them more power than women?" To you, one or more reader who is asking this question, I say, "No, [insert your FiMFic name here if you are asking said question], it's not me being misogynous, it's me being really fuckin' lazy." Hopefully, this answers a lot of questions.

I don't really think I've got much left to say about this story, but if you have any questions that aren't, "Are you going to make more of this?" because yes, I will if I see a lot of people ask, please leave it in the comments below!
