    Fire Emblem Fates Review

Hey, guys. Sorry there is not really a Critique Review this week. Real life has been kind of busy with the last few days. Especially this past week. WIth Halloween and the fact that I have a couple members on my team who are just awful to work with. And it’s caused me a lot of stress this week and it’s affected my ability to work on my reviews.

    This is our story... #5

Hey, guys. Another week and another 'This is our story'. I always have trouble figuring out how to start these things. I try to keep them original so they don’t get boring, but I find that increasingly hard to do, other than saying that I’m still here.

I had… a really rough week last week.

Easy as Pie by xjuggernautx · 6:57pm Jan 8th, 2014

Hey, guys Spideremblembrony here and welcome to another addition of my reviews.

The story I want to talk about today is a story by xjuggernaughtx called Easy As Pie

It's a fun little story about Pinkie Pie facing down a kitchen that has been brought to life by some magical berries. She faces off against a living stool, a apron and a whole mess of other kitchen appliances during her quest to make a pastry delight. The story flows very well and it very well written. The descriptions are very well done and it has a great balance of comedy in the story. It was an absolute pleasure to read and I'm glad I did.

If you guys have not read it yet, what are you waiting for? Go check it out, it's a great fic and it's defiantly worth your time.

For those of you who won't, let me give you the low down.

It starts off with Zecora giving Pinkie Pie some magical berries called chuckle berries. Zecora ends up expressing her concern about Pinkie Pie's ability to bake these kinds of berries since these particular berries need to be cooked a certain way or they end up causing problems. Well, as you would expect, Pinkie Pie doesn't listen and is off to make the pie, following the instructions on a book, which happens to be encrusted in all this food, making it nearly impossible to read.

I did kind of question that. Why would you have a cookbook you can barely read? I assume that the Cake's don't have money to spend on new books, but why keep that one if it's basically too damaged to be helpful?

Anyway, she starts baking it when something happens and the stool starts to mysteriously follow her. Well, it turns out that she had dropped one of the berries and it squished it's way onto the stool. The stool starts to cause problems for Pinkie. At the same time, she tries to make her pie. At first she starts to think it's Pound Cake but discovers that its actually the kitchen coming to life.

She finally is able to out-wrestle the stool after trying (and failing) to work around it. With that she locks it in the larder and begins to go back to work on her dessert. She attempts to mix the berries in the blender, but the blender seems to have a mind of its own. It spread its berry contents all across the room. After Pinkie cleans up, she manages to get the mixture into a bowl and starts to prepare the dough. However, the dough, literally, starts to run away from her.

Fearing that she made a mistake in the cooking process of the berries, she goes back and consults with the book. She discovers that underneath a dried up dough flake, she was suppose to par-boil the berries. Again, I question why the cook book was still in the Cake's possession when it was as beat up and as messy as is described in the story.

Anyway, she then discovers that her apron, which now had a berry stain on it, had sprung to life as well. The dough causes chaos throughout the store as Pinkie Pie tries to quell it. She manages to get a rolling pin and beats the dough into submission.

And this may be immature, but I just see this image when I think of that.

It's the little things in life you have to appreciate the most.

So, Twilight Sparkle and Spike arrive and they agree to help Pinkie Pie deal with the catastrophe. They manage to subdue the dough, but unfortunately, they accidently release the stool from the larder. They manage to subdue the stool again and force the dough into the oven to be baked. And so our story ends with Pinkie Pie, Spike and Twilight standing over the baked pie, realizing that the phrase 'Easy as Pie', is not as easy as it seems.

And now for my judgment... I ask for silence please...

This fic was a ton of fun to read. It's descriptions were very good and the story was just a lot of fun. There were some problems for me, but overall the story was well written, well executed and just enjoyable. It kept Pinkie Pie entertaining the entire time, despite everything that was going on around her. That's something I admire and it's something I love about Pinkie Pie as a character. This author was able to capture that and was able to make something that could be enjoyed by anyone. If you get the chance, check it out. You won't regret it.

Have a good day, guys. I know I will.
