Ok guys, I'm happy to announce that I'll start writing the Vacant's long story right now. 
I know, I know, you are anxious for it and you want it now. Sadly I had been busy and haven't the time to write it. And also, as the original was a one-shot, there are some thing that I didn't plan. One of those things is that Scootaloo's father doesn't have a name.
So that's the reason of the blog. My fellow followers, How do you think that Scootaloo name would be? Please don't be shy, every idea is a good idea.
Come on, you can be known as the one who came with Scootaloo's father name. 
Ok. now let's go to a different topic. I wrote another fic... Yeah I know, I should have written the first chapter of the Vacant's long story. 
*hem* Well, I wrote, this one-shot that you could read while you wait for Vacant.
I feel bad for asking help to my followers for such a little thing like a name.

You know, it would help if we knew a little bit about him, otherwise any name is just a shot in the dark...

Hmm... In that case, perhaps you could just go on, leaving the name up in the air, then ask once more after he arrives in the narrative? Then, after we learn a bit about him, you end the chapter just before his name is revealed? If that would even work, though, majorly depends on the nature of the reveal...

I assume you don't intend for Scootaloo's father to be any known pony?
What will his personality be like? The two most interesting possibilities would be to either have him be completely unlike Scootaloo (calm, reserved, cerebral, etc), or have him be for all the world like a grown-up-but-not-mature Scootaloo (colt at heart, almost Rainbow-ish).

Actually no, I don't have a cutie mark nor profession in mind. I haven't planned him too much in that part, but I have in mind his personality and how he behave.
He is partly like Rainbow, loyal to the ones close to him. But he is a bit solitary, hardly trust strangers. Though he doesn't doubt in give a hoof to help other.
I don't know, that's something that came to my mind about him right now. Not completely sure about it, but is something.

More seriously, I am thinking space-y would work for the loner part, especially if you go with a unicorn, although I would avoid anything to do with the sun or moon.

Well, I've already an OC with a space-y name, if you read Moving On. If not, the OC name is Shooting Star. So, I can't think of another space-y name right now.

OK, that brings to mind two ideas:
A unicorn mechanic/machinist named Pinion, with a cutie mark that looks like a set of meshed gears. It's both a common part in precision machinery and a type of flight feather, which seems amusing on a non-pegasus with a pegasus daughter (and perhaps a pegasus parent who proposed his name). A mechanic with a Rainbow-Dash-like personality could come across as a Han Solo type, similar to the common treatment of Rainbow as an all-intuition no-books talent at flight and weather.
Alternatively, an earth pony courier/delivery pony named Sprinter (or Spinner, or Leap, or similar names that convey an impression of speed), with a cutie mark that looks like a letter with speed lines or speed flames. Hooked on speed and excitement much the same way Scootaloo and Dash are. Working in a profession that probably doesn't normally tend to employ many earth ponies (normally less speed and delivery flexibility than a pegasus, no magical deliveries like a unicorn), he would make up for it by racing everywhere, which would suit his personality just fine. Bonus if he uses skates or some other wheeled vehicle to help (probably not directly a scooter, since that'd be too similar, but it could still be reminiscent of Scootaloo racing around Ponyville, sans wing assistance). Possible character inspirations include Y.T. and Hiro near the beginning of Snow Crash. Also allows for the possibility of crash-hello introductions, if that helps the story; could also allow for an amusing moment with Chrysalis giving Scootaloo her first scooter, as a callback/memory.

Interesting. I like both, but especially the courier pony. It fit perfectly with the way he is going to meet with Chrysalis -No spoilers-
I think I'll go with something like that. Probably I'll make some changes as I write the chapter.

Awesome! I look forward to reading the story. The one-shot really was an excellent idea, and a unique background for Scootaloo that I've never actually seen in another story, which is quite an accomplishment given all the backgrounds people give her; I'd love to see more of the world you've painted so far.

But I find it hard that Chrysalis had a child with a commoner. He must have been really special for her to want a foal with him.
And is she still in contact with him after all those years, and if the response is yes, I don't understand why she tried to invade Equestria.
Unless she just wanted a good time once and didn't realy care about him. In that case why is she still in contact with him?
