Hurrah! · 5:00pm May 7th, 2012
Well, it's the second day, and already I'm pretty much bowled over by this place. Positive reception, friendly people, a whole bunch of awesomeness to check out and a way to get it delivered to my RSS feeds...Man, this place has it all. I've had offers of help, awesome grammar discussions with amazing people, and just a whole lot of stuff to do. Say whatever you want about this here pavillion for afficianados of pony, but it sure is dynamic.
However, I am getting a vibe. A very sloppily spoken, internet sort of vibe, which has wriggled itself into my head and says something a little like this: "TheVulpineHero1, we have plobrem! You see, we like your stuff, but it is just way too darn short. Prease can you write someting that lasts maybe more than five second? Then all your shipping will belong to us!"
I might, sir, I might. All the stuff I've posted thus far (and all the stuff that's currently in my queue to post, oh boy) has just been old stuff from my ff.net account that I've re-edited a little for this site. I probably ought to make something new, and awesome, and full of sugary goodness, that will suitably announce my introduction to these here waters. Right?
Sorry, nope. Instead, I'm going to slap you all in the face with a marvellous example of why I can't write 500 words in a straight line without hating myself and all that I stand for. You will see, sirs and madams, you will see.
Thanks for all those people who've made my transition to the site so quick and painless, by giving advice, recommendations, telling me which of the shiny buttons causes death when I press it, watches, favourites, comments, the whole schebang. All of the love contained in my black and shrivelled heart, I give to you.
I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the site - we're all glad to have you no doubt! I believe I've read some of your work on FanFiction and am looking forward to seeing anything new you produce.

Another person who has heard of me on fanfiction? Cookie, top hat, monacle and moustache for you, sir and/or madam! Thanks for the welcome. I'll try and produce something worth your time to read!
Glad to hear you have such a sunny disposition when it comes to the act of writing. I've always been of the opinion that if it doesn't feel like you're pulling your teeth out with a rusty pair of pliers, then you're doing it wrong. I'll never understand how people here can write so much good shipping though. It's a genre that has thus far eluded me. Anyway, glad to have you here.

It's like a parabolic curve. An example:
5 minutes after I've finished writing something: "Well, I had fun doing that. But I wasn't quite happy with how it turned out."
15 minutes: "Actually, it didn't even begin that well. Or end that well. It wasn't very special at all. I'm really disappointed in myself. I'll have to do better next time."
20 minutes: "Dear lord, what have I brought into the world? I've created a monster!"
1 month later: "Actually, this is some pretty good stuff. Glad I wrote it."
Happens every. Single. Time.
In other news, pleasure to meet you!
You know what? I haven't actually said 'welcome' yet...
Welcome!
Make yourself at home, you seemed to have moved in well enough already anyway. I'm sure you'll find the atmosphere here pleasing, and you'll probably get along with at least half the decent people here. You may also notice the extravagant and colorful ponies dotting the top of the screen, don't worry; that means you're home
(I do think it is a vast improvement compared to fanfiction, that place always looked so dull...)
Anyway, write what you want and do so at you're own pace. Most here are equally tolerant and patient, as well as a bit crazy... But you get used to that

I'm still getting used to how quick everybody is. I spend most of my time just responding to notifications. Find a story, start reading the comments thread, get halfway down before a box pops up with five notifications for me to attend to. Every time. Thank goodness for the Read Later thing...
FF net was always pretty dull, but then as a multi-series thing that didn't allow itself to show preference for any one fandom, it kinda needed to stay neutral. I like the pretty colours, though.
The community so far has been great. I'm really enjoying myself.
(Also, thanks for the welcome!)
