I saw an author I follow do this some time back, and i decided I'd do the same because I'm original like this, but this is an in look to the music I often listen to when I'm writing. First off, it has to be some form of rock or metal. Most commonly, I tend to write with a nice bit of Thrash metal or grunge. I, myself, don't understand why I use thrash metal, especially since my main story at the moment (devoid) is a bit morbid and a sad fic, where as thrash metal is fast and heavy, whereas my other common choice, grunge, is slow and usually features lyrics that offer an insight to various subjects, which may be used to help my writing (someone). Secondly, 99% of the time, I use a live set. This is to maintain consistency. I feel if I used single songs and just had a jumble of music types, the content of the chapters would be inconsistent (kind of hard to explain any other way). So with that out of the way, the main live sets I used are
Annihilator live at masters of rock in the Czech Republic
Metallica's set on the big four live at Sofia
Megadeth's set on the big four live at Sofia
Metallica S&M live at San Francisco (best live set I have ever seen)
Alice In chains live on MTV unplugged
Nirvana live on MTV unplugged
If you are an author who shares similar music taste with me, maybe you could try using these sets whilst writing and see if they help you out any.
