Happy New Year! · 2:01am Jan 1st, 2014
Although, technically, it isn't yet. Right now it's 8:30 here, so we've got about three and a half hours left. But I digress. Congratulations on surviving another year!
Looking at it in hindsight, 2013 was a big year for me. There were a lot of 'firsts'.
I had my first girlfriend. And while we are no longer together, I still enjoyed every moment I spent with her.
I went to my first convention, something I never pictured myself doing. I was fortunate enough to attend with two of my closest friends and my sister, and was able to meet a ton of cool people, whom I hope to see again.
For the first time ever, someone thought my writing was good enough to be featured on a major website. TWICE. I'm still unsure whether black magic played a role in things.
And, finally, I got to work with my first real editor. Not strictly a professional one, but someone who enjoys assisting others with their writing nonetheless. As far as scale goes... this is probably the smallest thing to happen to me this year. But to me, it's the most significant. Without my editor, Breath of Plagues (not sure if I should count him as 'former' yet), I wouldn't have gotten to where I am. Never before has my writing improved so much in such a short time. And it's all due to him. Well, most of it, at least. His tastes may be unconventional, and I may want to gouge my eyes out every now and then after reading some of the disturbing stuff he sends me, but I love him for it. And I would be honored if he considered me a friend.
Commence the shipping.
There are probably more 'firsts', but they elude me as of now. Regardless, however big 2013 was, 2014 will be bigger.
Not only will I be attending both TrotCon and BronyCon in the summer, but I may be taking part in a panel at both conventions. I'm also planning on taking a road trip during the summer. And, if I can escape the claws of my community college, I'll be attending a university in the fall. I've got my hands full...
Finally, I'd like to thank you, random reader. Whether you follow me or not, you've decided that I'm interesting enough to look up. Thank you for giving me a shot. I know I'm not the best writer out there, and I have a problem with updating regularly, but you've stuck with me despite that. I do this for you guys as much as I do it for myself. Happy new year, whoever you are. I hope it turns out to be a good one.
Obligatory resolution: I'll try to start updating on a two-week basis. No promises though.
P.S. Amacita, if you're reading this, I'm sorry for being so terrible at updating. We haven't actually been able to work together yet, but I look forward to doing so in the future.
