Idea/Proposal for forums! · 4:32am Dec 11th, 2013
How many times have you wanted to post a thread on a forum, but several other threads with similar topics have already been posted? So, you decide to make sure you're not spamming anyone's notification box by going through the forum's history. And most of the time, there's a lot of pages full of threads to go through.
A LOT.
I mostly see this problem in the Writer's Group forums. We almost always post the same topics all the time, thus cluttering up the history pages, and it's a PAIN to go through and look for old threads, so we makes new ones, repeating topics that were already posted a long time ago. Which adds to the never-ending cycle of repetitive threads being overlooked and then "replaced", again, and again...
So what to do? Maybe someone already asked a question on the forum that we want to ask ourselves and get advice on writing on, or opinions about the show. But there's just SO MUCH to look through, and it gets frustrating.
Well, there is one idea- see, the majority of the internet has this wonderful little tool known as a search engine. You type in some key words, and you can search for whatever you want, and narrow down your search and easily find what you want- movie info, news, porn, etc.
So here's what I propose: Search engines for the forums! This way, if people want to see if there's a certain topic being discussed, or want to look for some advice somebrony posted on story writing, they just type in what they want into the search engine and come back with topics that should get them what they're looking for. No more scrolling through endless pages of threads to find the one you want, we'll narrow it down for you! This way, threads don't need to be dupicated, thus hopefully creating less notification spams for anyone part of groups. And I know a bunch of us are. :)
It's just a theory, but I think it has some potential. And I was bored. :P
Currently Reading: "Lolita" by Vladmir Nabokov/"Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck" by Jeff Kinney (Yes, I sometimes read more than one book at a time.)
That's certainly one interesting combination of books to read at the same time.
