    I'm (still) not quite dead...

I'm sorry, I am so very sorry for the lack of updates on, well, anything. A few of you have probably noticed that I've still been putting in the occasional appearance or comment, but as for chapter updates...yeah I've barely written anything for months for various reasons - work sucks, arranging a couple vacations, a falling out in my D&D group of 14 years, and just a sort of malaise that

    When you're writing a chapter...

And listening to music to keep yourself in the mood, and then you hear a song that has you suddenly realize that you've been writing the entire chapter wrong and should have instead been basing it around the song - not necessarily using the song directly (especially since that would be against site rules concerning wholesale copying of lyrics), but certainly drawing on it for inspiration.

The Good News and the Bad News

The good news is that I got a root canal on Monday. No more pain in teeth. Yay!

The bad news is that I was 3/4ths of the way through the next chapter of Midnight Castle (~5000 words) and realized that I was writing it totally wrong. I need to go back to practically the start and change up a lot, though I'm salvaging lines and paragraphs wherever I can.

Disney's "Frozen" · 4:39pm Dec 2nd, 2013

GO SEE IT NOW.

Disclaimer: I am a huge, unabashed Disney fan. My favorite movie is Beauty & the Beast, and if I was making a list of my Top 10 movies after that, Treasure Planet would easily rank somewhere in there.

I have to admit that going by the commercials for Frozen, I was actually a little worried that Disney was making a mistake, focusing on the wacky hijinks Shrek-style yet again as they did with Tangled (which wasn't bad at all, by the way, it just suffered a little bit from aforementioned wacky hijinks, but when it hit the right notes, it hit them hard).

Frozen? Well, I'm not going to say it's perfect, nothing's perfect, everything has some flaws and Frozen has a few of them too...

...But it hits all the notes. This is the first fully CGI Disney movie that made me really believe that the company definitely still knows what it's doing from a storytelling perspective, and is definitely a welcome addition to Disney animated canon.

Also? I'm pretty sure that Disney has read through TVTropes by now, and has become experts at knowing when to play straight, when to subvert, and when to avert.

So, yeah. Go see Frozen, NOW.

I don't watch enough telivision to have really seen much of the comercials myself. I do however follow MovieBob so was made aware of this disperity second hand. Not sure if I'll actually get around to seeing this while it's in theaters (I don't go out to the movies much either), but now that I've got two recomendations it will be doubly on my list of sugestions during family outings as we move into the holiday season.

Does it fit into they're end of the world collection?
Never mind I was thinking about Pixar :facehoof: I must be getting old.

So basically, its basically classic Disney at its finest.

Yes, I am an unbashed Disney fan too, why do you think I have a Disney crossover in my stories and am making a sequel to said crossover.

Although, my personal favorites would be Lion King, Hercules, and Mulan.

1564696 Mistook disney for pixar in my old age:derpytongue2:.

When you do see it, keep your eyes open for a cameo by Eugene and Rapunzel in the first 20 minutes or so. Rapunzel is post-haircut brunette, incidentally, and still wearing it short.

Huh, well thanks I guess. I've been thinking about taking a look at it but wasn't all that sure. The released song and trailer got me hooked on the idea so thanks for the final confirmation.

The advertising for this was terrible, but the movie itself was fantastic. We saw it yesterday, I bought the soundtrack and have been listening to it all morning, and I'm currently sitting here on my lunch break wondering about taking off the afternoon and seeing it again.

I'm probably going to do that today. In 3D this time; I saw it in 2D yesterday, but now I need to see the building of the ice palace in 3D.

This is my current favorite song. And Elsa is currently my best Disney princess (she's apparently being added to the lineup alongside Anna; Anna will be 12th, and Elsa 13th).

I particularly like that Elsa was VA'd by Idina Menzel - AKA, the actress who plays Elphaba in Wicked, and who also played the real-world finance in Enchanted.

1564891 Yeah, my soundtrack listening eventually devolved into just that song on repeat.

The ice palace sequence was awesome in 3D.

Ok, will give it a chance, the trailer made it look like complete garbage.
Also I hope there is more of the ice queen than the "heroes". Ugg those snowmen.

Well if you say so. Looked like a bad Shrek nock off to me but I will give it a chance.:unsuresweetie:

It's anything but garbage. The trailers don't do it nearly enough justice; unfortunately, they're the kind of trailers that put butts in seats these days.

But no, it's quite good. I think we can definitely say at this point that Disney is currently in the middle of a second Renaissance.

Hmm... interesting. And in what way is this blog post related to the story about the Dalek? I see the new tagging system is here!

1565048 I concur!
How is this related to the Dalek story?

1565048>>1565321
Um...it's my story with the most views, and I want to make sure that everyone sees Frozen, so I linked it to the Dalek story.

Disney! Stop advertising your movies like they are something else! Jeez!
I didn't even find out Frozen existed until about a week ago, and the commercials left me utterly unimpressed. It's not that it looked Shrek-y, (Tangled's commercials were worse in that regard, despite Tangled not being very Shrek-y at all.) but rather just looked formulaic. However, if it's better than it looks, it might e worth a go then.

And yes, Treasure Planet was made of amazing. :rainbowdetermined2:

Despite thinking it had potential I the advertising made me concerned it would be a dud, now I feel like I should watch it... or at least find a way to rent/borrow it.

I already decided to see it when I saw the trailer. Never heard of Treasure Planet.

Speaking of the ice palace sequence...

Just found that a few minutes ago. Watching it. Watching it a lot.

There's also this, which is adorable.

1578131 Oh my that is adorable.

Frozen is not your normal Disney Movie...
First off, Elsa the Snow Queen isn't evil; she's just afraid of her power, and of letting it out. She's also one of the few Disney Queens that ISN'T evil.
Also, "Love at First Sight" is utterly deconstructed. May not seem like it in the beginning, but I assure you, the consequences ARE explored.

Also, it's not romantic love that saves the day.

The words of the movie that I watched yesterday...

SO FUCKING BEAUTIFUL

There said it :pinkiesick: go shout at meh but dis is meh opinion. The movie was beautifully made, the characters perfect, Olaf was so fucking cute, Sven was funny, Elsa was a awesome person, Anna and Kristoff were just beautiful together :rainbowkiss:.

I also liked the bit when it wasn't true love that would help the curse upon Anna, sisterly love, like a certain Sun goddess and Moon goddess that we know of :trollestia:.

Olaf was far out my favourite character, he deserves more stories and fanbase :twilightangry2: fourtunelly I know of a friend who's good on stories, so I'll just grab that girl and force-I mean love MLP Fim :pinkiecrazy::pinkiehappy::pinkiecrazy::trollestia::trixieshiftright::raritywink::twilightoops::twilightsmile:

Overall the movie was in my opinion : 10/10 :moustache::moustache::pinkiecrazy::pinkiesad2::pinkiehappy::pinkiegasp::moustache::facehoof::trollestia:

Well, I only saw it last Thursday instead of "NOW" as suggested in the first line here, but... Yes. It's amazing. And my neighbors haven't seen it yet, so I'm planning on going along with them for a rewatch some time this week. :pinkiehappy:

Frozen was so beautiful :raritycry::raritycry::raritydespair::raritydespair::raritydespair::raritydespair::fluttercry::fluttercry::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:

COMPLETELY AGREED ON (Almost) ALL POINTS.

However, I see Sweetie and Rarity fitting Anna and Elsa better than the Celestial Sisters due to their sisterly dynamic, but to each their own.
Also, my fave was Elsa, but Olaf is awesome too.

It was beautiful.

I really want to see a Frozen fanfiction here.Anybody know of one?:fluttershysad:
