Temporary hiatus due to intense course

I have tried taking it with a positive view, but considering the circumstances, I might have to put writing and drawing away for a few weeks. I didn't think it was going to be so time consuming, but the course is an intense 12-weeks course compressed into 6, and the physical training I haven't done in probably years. My classic "I will run when they come lookin' for me"ideology is taking its

As if I needed more reasons to be a slow writer

I've always had reasons to not write/draw while following a specific schedule. Most of them being:

    -Gaming like a mofo.
    -Exhausted from house chores.
    -Simply not feeling like it.
    -Lack of inspiration.
-Friends come to visit (extremely rare)

Why I seem to be dead around here these days

I've seen a lot of blogs these days commenting about fake suicide notes and stuff like that. Not a pretty sight. I was going through a bit of an ordeal myself, but I didn't feel like bothering anyone around here with it, so I moved forward. Anyway, that's not the point of all this, but it's true that the idea of being called out because of all the ones posting lies for attention really didn't

    I draw (horribly) too!

So, after almost a month full of delays and mishaps, I was able to get my tablet. Suffice to say, I wasn't an outstanding artist before I got this thing, and getting used to it (and learning how to use it) takes time. Ever new drawing shows that I'm slowly adapting to it, but I still was a mediocre artist when I started. For any of you interested, there's actually a comic I'm working on that

And with that, a story ends · 1:45pm Oct 17th, 2013

For those of you who didn't notice yesterday, The Lovers' Edda has come to an end. It's a strange feeling. It's hard to look at a finished story and know that you won't touch it ever again (save for probably polishing the small issues here and there if someone point them out). It's been an interesting journey, where not only the main characters have grown and learned, but so did I. While I'm still far from proficient (much less fluent) in Old Norse, I've learned enough basic words and declensions to write lines much faster than when I first started with this. I've also learned much more about Norse culture than I ever imagined thanks to the hours, probably even days of research to make this as accurate as possible. Sure, you have some artistic license here and there to make it more show-friendly, but the core is still there. I've also learned that my writing style is slightly archaic, which isn't inherently bad, but it's a refreshing oddity.

As for the future of The Lovers' Edda, I have stuff in mind, as Mjǫllna's prophetic dream showed. It'll take time, but there will be a sequel, hopefully soon (though finding a cover art might be troublesome) as well as an AU that I can't say that much about yet due to possible spoilers. One of the projects I have thought for the universe of the characters (I know it might be a bit arrogant to consider the "Eddaverse" a thing at all, but it's a way of making myself understood) will probably take a Prosaic Edda style, but it will take long to get that. Stay tuned for more news about The Lovers' Edda-related fics.

While I know this is a bit clichéd, I can't simply leave without thanking those who made this fic possible.

Midnight Dancer: She was the first editor and fan of the story, and has been around ever since. Whenever I wan't sure about what path to take concerning female behavior, I could always count on her to solve them. And we had one conversation that might've saved the fic in its early days from total ostracism (I might be exaggerating a bit, though probably not). She also has Best Child, who looks like a miniature version of Matt Smith (though I'm the only one who calls him Matt Smith Jr.) That's enough evidence for me to believe that God exists, and He's clearly her mini Time Lord-bearing uterus. Keep being awesome, Dancer.

electreXcessive: While I always considered myself a mediocre writer at best, probably not good enough to have fans at all, Elec here proved me wrong. If I ever had a fanclub, this guy would be it's President, and I would feel flattered. He was the one who recommended Edda (back in the days where it was only three chapters long) to Seattle's Angels and gave it a spotlight in his own group "Under-appreciated Extravaganza" and in one of their related blog entries. I've always written the stuff I wanted without thinking too much about the readers' thoughts on the story (since I post them on the internet, some bare basic thoughts are a must), Elec is the kind of guy who makes me walk the extra mile to polish this and make it even better.

ambion: He's been around for quite a while (having helped editing most of the story), this guy's really hilarious. He doesn't care about spoilers, so we could talk about the chapter as a whole and work around the core ideas of the story and how to tackle them. Talking to him about what I wanted to do with Edda actually helped me to knit the fic as it is right now. He also pulled my ear a couple times when some stuff wasn't totally show-friendly. While it's true that the Kingdom of Fimbulvetr is based on the Viking lands (Middle Ages and all), the differ in that they're sightly less patriarcal compared to the original ones, and we worked on making sure it stayed that way.

OtterMatt: Though not a fan since day one, he grew fond of the story as time went on, and was one of the three editors that closely proofread that behemoth of a two-parter. I promised him a beer after all we went through, and I'll try to fulfill it (someday, not much I an do for now). As a fellow WRITE reviewer, he's taught me a lot during our time proofreading. Which is good, which means that it will take less time to update due to having much less mistakes. It's also bad, though, because now I have less excuses to shield myself for being too lazy/uninspired to update stories.

maskedferret: This lady here is amazing. After my previous P5R reviewer quitted reviewing at all, she was one of the users who offered to help me edit the fic. We've been friends and in a reviewer/writer symbiotic relationship ever since. She was able to go through the whole two-parter in one day, and she's the one you should be thankful for killing those sneaky typos and grammar errors that three previous pairs of eyes overlooked.

And to all those who took their time to read the story, I'm glad you enjoyed it. This is Simon o'Sullivan signing out.

Will patiently await any form of sequel! Loved the story, and was giddy to see the update yesterday.

It's been a long time comin', but all the better for it. A deserving end, indeed.
