Fallout story · 10:04pm Sep 17th, 2013
Yes, I know that I have currently six stories going. Yes, I know I mentioned I have two other stories coming, one short and another one which will be another prequel to Rebirth of the Damned, but that I will post some time after I will finish Project Eclipse. But I have this really good idea for a Fallout story for over a week, and I cannot stop thinking about it.
It all started about one week and half ago. I just finished reading newest (by then) chapter of "Fallout Equestria: SSDW" by tony1685, and I thought that it would be cool to play Fallout 3 again - which is funny, considering that year ago, reading a story of the same author, "Wayward Courier", made me play Fallout New Vegas. Anyway, after doing few missions, I had a new thought:
"Hey, isn't there a very popular fanfic story with Equestria after Armaggedon, that is very long and inspired many other stories in the universe it created, and even has its own wikipedia?"
- my brain
So, I started to read "Fallout: Equestria", by Kkat, despite the intimidating length of it. I just finished it, and I can say that it is now my most favorite story! It's epic!
But I haven't just thought about making my own Fallout story once I finished. No, I actually began pondering the idea in the very first chapters... and then another one, and another one... Okay, you know what, I will just skip to the point.
I have two major ideas for this story, and I would like to know what you all think about them. Because, this story is going to happen. But I am unsure as to which direction I should take. Both would take place in post-war Equestria, and both would have the same main character, and more or less the same locations, but there will be few differences.
1. The first version that I thought off wouldn't exactly be another side-story to "Fallout: Equestria". It would be along the lines of how the newest Devil May Cry was to the past games: a new look, sort to speak. I plan to have the war that destroyed Equestria to be... different, and all the major differences between my Wasteland and the one in "Fallout: Equestria", although I will probably use the same names for stuff like weapons, organizations, food, chems, et cetera. I thought this one before I read further into the story, and I had no idea how much detail Kkak put into her story regarding the war, and before I realized that all those side-stories, even though they aren't considering canon, follow everything. So I began having second thoughts, and also that it might be slightly disrespectful out of me, so I had prepared another version;
2. This one would follow everything that happened or was explained in "Fallout: Equestria". The minus to that is that most interesting concepts from Fallout were already taken by Kkak, so my heroes would have little to do. On the plus side, I might have a chance to write Littlepip or other characters from "Fallout: Equestria" into my story.
So, tell me what you think, which version sounds better. And don't worry, I haven't forgotten about my other stories, even those that I haven't touched since January. I will post another blog soon, explaining few things that I planned for them.
I would prefer the first one, since it is likely to have more in the way of new material.
Admittedly, Fallout Equestria itself didn't have a lot of new material, I can't actually think of anything that doesn't correspond to MLP or Fallout directly.
Regardless, you can NEVER have enuff
dakkaStories.Do the first one!
I'm going to have to go with number one, you know new stuff and all. I'm definitely waiting for this as of now, anyway good ideas all around and good luck!
Fallout: Equestria is the most overrated fic in the fandom. To me, it felt like a 600k word waste of time. Not worth it at all.
the first one please
Do the one that means the most to you on a personal level. Don't let the desires of others dictate you writing a story you might not want to finish.
Go with the 1st one. Try for a different take on the story.
I Feel like you're much more into your original idea, and it would nice to see a story that breaks from the norm of its universe and shows things in a different light. So i'm going to suggest the first one, but just go with what feels right.
There is no shame in writing an alternate universe story, many authors actually find it flattering, especially when the story is well written, tries to be origional, and ends up being rather satisfying to read. I personally think you should go with 1., mostly because there is going to be more story with 1 than 2. But that is my opinion, and you should do what you think you will enjoy the most.
option 2 seems cool but kind of boring, option 1 seems like it would have a bit more to the story
NUMBAH ONE, BRUDDAH!!!!
Well, I think the option that you want to do the most is the best one. It would keep you wanting to write the story, and either one will likely keep us interested.
And I have to agree, Fallout: Equestria is number 1 in my book.
well, I just finished my one sit read of Rebirth of the Damned... I'm tired... But I'll give my opinion on this before I go to bed. I would personally prefer option number one, but I'm fine with either... I'd probably have to read FoE if I did... Not that I don't want to, I read the Diaries of a Madman in only a week so the length is laughable... But I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it...
Also, just a side thing about RotD... I figured that Matt would take the time to speak to shiny about his protectiveness when he was at the initiation... Oh well
Brain shutting down... I'll leave you with this
I'm watching you
Could always write about Littlepips mysterious rival lockpicker that showed up around the same time Hell hounds were introduced. Sure they never met face to face, but Littlepip hated that guy for jamming so many locks!
I prefer number 1 but if you are going to do 1, just be safe and ask what Kkat thinks first
My vote goes to Option number 1.
So far with your other story's, your view has been nothing less then great so I believe both options
would be a excellent read, but I want to see what you can do when you do not have back-story
restriction.
Number one my friend you want your story to be unique and stand out... so don't fall into the same trap everypony else did... plus I love fallout Equestria but I have yet to find one side story that I like so you may end up writing the new "Big" story
But only if you want to...
Numero Uno por favor.
I say number 1, dude 'cause this would be something new.
First.
number one, sometimes a fresh look at things can be good
