Not Ready for Season 4... yet

Way back when Season 3 was getting started, I didn't do anything right away. I didn't watch the episodes right as they came out; in fact, several were already out by the time I felt good and ready to watch them.

I tried watching the Season 4 pilot a few minutes ago... but I barely got anywhere in it before I turned it off.

G3 = The Generation of Sues

Honestly, pretty much every character in G3 My Little Pony is a Mary Sue. You don't need to make a Sue for them because they're all already Sues.

FANDOM-SPECIFIC TROPES FOR BRONIES
Tropes you won't find on TVTropes.org

Somepony the Guardian Angel A pony, typically Celestia or Twilight, teleports a human to Equestria for their own purposes. As the story goes on the protagonist, who may or may not enjoy being in Equestria, learns or explains their hard past, which typically involves at least one alcoholic parent, running away from home and dropping out of school; consequently the protagonist may not wish to return, even if returning to Earth is possible, and thus whoever brought them there has (inadvertently or not) acted in their best interests.

This trope has earned criticism for how nearly all of the people involved are white American males no matter how tragic their past; this tends to be a side effect of white American males writing what they're familiar with, but it tends to sideline the issues and needs of people like starving African children or Middle-Eastern women. Sure, even in prosperous countries there can be those with tragic pasts and lives - this is the very thing Karl Marx tried to fix, after all - but you wouldn't know it was a problem in other countries if you only read these fanfics, which tend to ignore those who aren't American, male or white. Further, it tends to paint Equestria as a place free of hardship, when in reality there are no doubt ponies who live there who face the same struggles the protagonist had faced back home; consequently, it's a pretty blatant form of Wish Fulfillment, and very tricky to pull-off right. It's sort of like the Fairy Godmother trope and how it often comes-up in this day and age - when she could be off assisting starving children in the most impovershed regions of the world, she's instead helping some desperate high school girl catch the eye of the captain of the football team so he can take her to prom, otherwise she has no date for it and… that seems to be about it.

I'll be updating this blog as I find more. Feel free to make suggestions of any kind down below to improve this list!
