NaPoWriMo Status Update - Day 5

Day 5 of writing: -133 words of chapter 2.
Total to date: 5518 (plus 4476 pre-NaPo words)

So the cutting-room-floor words I mentioned writing yesterday? Well, when I woke up today and reread them, I realized that the cutting had to be now, rather than later. I chopped out about 80% of what I wrote yesterday and started adding what should have gone there instead. The chapter is flowing much better as a result, though I'm rather annoyed at losing a day's output. But, cutting off the gangrenous limb was the far less painful option.
